PRIOR TO TRYOUTS
A parent/guardian must:
(a) provide the District with a certificate of physical fitness [the Pre-Participation Physical
Examination Form from the Illinois Elementary School Association (IESA) serves this
purpose], (b) show proof of accident insurance coverage, and (c) complete registration on
the PJHS 8 to 18 site for any association sponsoring the interscholastic athletic activity,
including when applicable and without limitation, Concussion Information, Athletic
Permission Form, and Student Signature Sheet no later than July 25, 2025. You will not be
able to try-out with completing the required registration.
First Day of Tryouts Procedure:
Check In
Athletes must come dressed in their uniform. Softball pants, t-shirt with their name on
the back (PE shirt), softball cleats.
Athletes should be dropped off at the parking lot of Parkside Junior High. Athletes must be dropped off 15 minutes BEFORE practice begins in order to get checked in and begin tryouts/practice.
Athletes MUST BRING a full water jug to practice each day
Procedure After Practice:
Please pick up your athlete on time.
Student Athletes be sure you have picked up all of your equipment
Parkside Softball Expectations
Attendance – It is imperative to attend all tryout dates.
Dress – Please wear a a Unit 5 PE shirt (tucked in) with your last name on the back (a Unit 5 PE shirt is preferred), softball pants or shorts with sliders/sliding pad, mask, socks, (tennis shoes to practice inside in case of rain), rubber cleats, glove. Leave all jewelry and valuables at home.
Be On Time! – You will need to be at least 15 minutes early to get cleats on and help organize equipment.
Attitude and Effort- Be positive towards yourself, and others- always display good sportsmanship! These are two things you can control everyday!
Hustle- HUSTLE EVERYWHERE!
Personal Items- Please have your equipment labeled with your name.
Inclement Weather- A message will be sent on 8 to 18 if there is a threat of severe weather.
Hydration- Bring water with you to practice everyday! And don't forget your sunscreen!
