Jennifer Wren is the Director of Bands at Pearland Junior High East and Alexander Middle School in Pearland ISD. Prior to holding this position, Ms. Wren was Director of Bands at Hofius Intermediate and Kleb Intermediate, as well as the Associate Director of Bands at Doerre Intermediate, all in Klein ISD. She earned her Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Houston and her Masters of Music in Conducting from Sam Houston State University.
Bands under Mrs. Wren’s direction have received Sweepstakes Awards as well as First Division ratings and Best in Class distinctions at the South Coast Music Festival and the Gator Music Festival. Mrs. Wren’s bands have also been recognized as both National and Commended Winners in the National Wind Band Honors Project. In 2023, the Hofius Symphonic Band performed at the Music for All National Concert Band Festival in Indianapolis, IN. Mrs. Wren was a co-founder of the Doerre Symphony Orchestra, which received consistent Sweepstakes awards at UIL, and placed as second runner-up and runner-up at the Texas Music Educators Association Honor Orchestra competition as well as an invitation to perform at the 2014 Midwest Clinic. Mrs. Wren has been nominated multiple times for Teacher of the Year and was named a Texas Exes Rising Star in Teaching.
Mrs. Wren’s professional affiliations include Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, and Pi Kappa Lambda music honor society. She lives in Friendswood, Texas with her daughter Abigail.
Tyler Hensley is entering his fifth year as Assistant Band Director at Pearland Junior High East and Alexander Middle School. He is a graduate of the University of Houston, with a bachelor’s degree in music education. While at UH, he was a member of the Wind Ensemble and multiple chamber groups.
Bands under Mr. Hensley's direction have received consistent UIL Sweepstakes Awards as well as Superior ratings and a Best-in-Class distinction at the Gator Music Festival.
He will be teaching the Symphonic Band, as well as beginner clarinet and saxophone this year. Mr. Hensley lives at home with his fiancée Jacquelyn and their two cats, Morty and Magnus.
Brant Pembleton is entering his first year of teaching as Assistant Band Director at Pearland Junior High East and Alexander Middle School. He will be assisting with the Honors Band and Symphonic Band, conducting the Concert I and Concert II Bands, as well as teaching beginning trombone, tuba & euphonium, and double reeds classes.
Mr. Pembleton attended the University of Houston and earned his bachelor’s degree in music education. While at UH, he was a member of many performing ensembles, which include: the Spirit of Houston Marching Band, Cougar Brass Symphonic Winds, and the UH Wind Ensemble. Before starting at East, he worked as a low brass private instructor, was a marching tech for the Friendswood Mustang Marching Band, and spent two summers working at the Interlochen Summer Arts Camp as a counselor in Interlochen, Michigan.
Mr. Pembleton professional affiliations include Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, and Kappa Kappa Psi - Honorary Band Fraternity. Mr. Pembleton enjoys watching sports (especially the Astros), playing video games, and traveling.
Ethan Ahmad is a percussionist and educator based in Houston, TX. He is currently the Assistant Percussion Director at Pearland High School, where he works with the nationally acclaimed marching band and writes for the World Class Indoor Drumline. Additional duties include working with the junior highs and running the percussion ensemble programs at all schools for the cluster. He maintains a large private studio of students who have experienced success at every level from 1st chair junior high Region Band rankings, to TMEA All-Staters, acceptances into competitive college studios, and Fred Sanford Awards in DCI.
As a performer, Ethan enjoys all aspects of percussion and has had a multifaceted career beginning with an involvement in DCI and WGI and moving to a more orchestral focus. He has had opportunities to play with premier orchestras such as the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Houston Symphony, and the New World Symphony in Miami, as well as artists such as Glenn Frey of The Eagles and Steve Vai. He has also been fortunate enough to work with many of the day’s leading composers and conductors such as Steve Reich, Gustavo Dudamel, Andris Nelsons, Michael Tilson Thomas, Alan Gilbert, Danny Elfman, and the incomparable John Williams, among many others. Festival appearances include fellowships at the Tanglewood Music Center, Music Academy of the West, Texas Music Festival, and Round Top Music Festival. Ethan studied at Rice University and holds degrees from The University of Southern California and The Juilliard School.
