We work in the field of gas-phase chemical physics. We are interested in studying chemical dynamics in the gas-phase using high-resolution spectroscopy. We build and develop chirped-pulse molecular rotational resonance (CP-MRR) spectrometers, and incorporate lasers and multi-resonant experimental schemes to understand a variety of molecular processes including collisional energy transfer, relaxation, reaction dynamics, and onset of clustering. Since the multiplexed broadband CP-MRR spectroscopy can obtain the exact 3D-geometry and reaction dynamics information simultaneously, we can obtain a new class of structure↔reactivity relationship data.
Understanding reaction dynamics and extracting the local structural information of the transition state from product-state distribution using high-resolution spectroscopy.
Photodissociation dynamics of symmetric-Triazine is probed using the multiplexed CP-MRR spectroscopy, where the vibrational population distribution of the three HCN photofragments reveals mechanistic details.
Study chemical dynamics and structure↔reactivity relationship using high-resolution spectroscopy. Establish CP-MRR as a robust chemical and molecular dynamics experimental technique.
Triggered decomposition af energetic molecules, combustion and pyrolysis processes, atmospheric chemistry, astrochemistry, and detection of pollutants.
We use state-of-the-art tools and design our instruments to study interesting molecular processes. The nature of our research program is highly interdisciplinary, that overlaps with physical chemistry, molecular and optical physics, electronics and communications engineering (RF circuits and wireless technology), and mechanical engineering (vacuum system and optical instrument fabrication).
We just filed a patent application (Provisional Patent Application No. 202431086117) titled "A NOVEL USER-FRIENDLY SPOT-TEST KIT FOR RAPID DETECTION OF ADULTERATION OF MILK WITH UREA". This is thanks to the support received from the Chemistry UG and PG teaching laboratories and SRIC, IIT Kharagpur.
Looking for interested PhD and postdoc candidates who are motivated to pursue research in this highly interdiscipinery field.
