Taylor Rivera

Varsity Head Coach

  • Taylor has been part of the Pittsford Sutherland girls volleyball program since the Fall of 2016. She served as the JV head coach for one season and has been the varsity head coach since 2017. Taylor started her coaching career as a modified coach during her senior year of college at California Area Middle School. After moving back to Rochester, she became a coach for Paradigm volleyball club. She assistant coached at the 18s and 17s level and head coached for 2 seasons at the 15s level.

  • In high school, she was a 3 year varsity athlete at West Irondequoit, one of which included a State Championship title. She competed as an attacker, in the outside and opposite positions.

  • After graduating, she competed at California University of Pennsylvania, where she received her undergraduate degree in Technology Education K-12 and played volleyball as a defensive specialist/libero. Her time at CalU led to 2 conference titles and making it to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA tournament for Division II for 4 consecutive years.

  • Both on and off the court, she was recognized as a leader, being named captain at various points in her career as well as being a representative for her athletic conference her junior year of college at the NCAA DII annual leadership conference in Indianapolis.

  • In addition to coaching, Taylor also completed her Masters Degree in Literacy Education K-12 at Roberts Wesleyan College and has been teaching seventh and eighth grade technology for the East Irondequoit CSD for the past 4 years.

Brianna SPears

JV Head Coach

  • Brianna joined the Pittsford Sutherland High School Girls Volleyball program in 2018 as the Varsity Assistant Coach. In 2019, she became the JV Head Coach and is in her second season as head coach. Brianna grew up in the small town of Olean, NY. As a setter, she led her high school to 2 sectional championships and earned first team all CCAA her senior year.

  • In addition to coaching for Pittsford Sutherland, Brianna has also been both a head and an assistant coach for the VolleyFX Club for the past 6 years, including 2 teams that made it to the National Tournament. She has coached at the 11s, 12s, 13s, and 16s levels.

  • In 2013, Brianna moved to Rochester to attend Nazareth College, where she majored in psychology and education and played volleyball. Brianna continued her education at Naz, earning her Masters degree in inclusive childhood education. In addition to coaching, Brianna teaches second grade for the Greece CSD

Jake Gleason

Varsity Assistant Coach

  • Jake has been part of the Pittsford Sutherland High School Girls Volleyball Program for the past 4 years. He served two years as the junior varsity head coach and continues as the Varsity Assistant Coach. Jake is also an assistant coach for the Paradigm Volleyball Club at both the 17 and 18 levels.

  • Prior to his coaching career, Jake was a 5 year varsity volleyball starter for Frontier HS in Buffalo. During his tenure, they made 4 sectional appearances, winning 2 Section VI titles. He was named to the WNY All State team 3 times and holds the record for assists in a game and career assists for Frontier HS. Jake played college volleyball for 3 years at Nazareth College and 1 year for Universidad Católica De Valencia in Spain.

Christa mickol

Modified Head Coach

  • Christa started her coaching career with Pittsford last year as an assistant for the girls modified team. She has helped coached camps for multiple schools, Paradigm, and beach volleyball camps through Hotshots. In college, she was the head coach for the Brockport Men's Club volleyball team.

  • Christa began playing volleyball in middle school and went on to play varsity for 3 years, club for Paradigm and VFX, and eventually in college for SUNY Brockport. During her years at Brockport, the team competed in NCAA playoffs and finished top 16 in the country in 2016. She obtained a degree in environmental science at Brockport.

  • In addition to playing indoor volleyball, Christa has a passion for beach/grass volleyball as well and has traveled nationally to play in tournaments.
