Associate Professor, Philosophy and Language Theory, Università di Siena
I am a philosopher, with a foundational interest in natural language meaning.
Primarily I work in analytic philosophy and formal linguistics, yet I try to make a point of learning from colleagues and authors working within other frameworks. I also have an interest in the history of philosophy and linguistics, and I engage in a personal reflection on the public and cultural dimensions of language. In my writings, I pursue maximum brevity and the minimization of redundancy (à la Pierre Menard).
I am fairly «apocalyptic» about the use of social media in research and about the rise of artificial assistance in writing.
Prior to joining Siena, I served as a senior researcher at Leibniz-Zentrum Allgemeine Sprachwissenschaft in Berlin (ZAS) and Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona. I hold or have held fellowships with several international institutions, including the Alexander von Humboldt-Stiftung and the J. William Fulbright Foundation. I am a member of the Italian chapter of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Association.
