I dislike business pirates; it's one thing if you're doing it for personal use-- pirating photoshop to make some dank memes or whatever, but if your using pirated software to run a business, that's messed up!

I especially hate trying to fix something you've obviously pirated "I need my Adobe Professional 7 to work!" "It needs updates, but won't update, where's your key?" "I don't keep track of any of that, it was working last time!"

Any advice to prevent installing (or find) pirated things? I have software which scans a network for a lot of things but it flags too much as pirated; like the dormant "one click" office install, winrar, shareware, or even some volume license keys. I'd love a way to scan a machine for pirated software and then be able to refuse to work on that software.

In October 2008, Congress passed the Prioritizing Resources and Organization for Intellectual Property Act of 2008 (PRO-IP Act), to improve the effectiveness of U.S. government efforts to protect intellectual property (IP) rights such as copyrights, patents, and trademarks. The act also directed GAO to provide information on the quantification of the impacts of counterfeit and pirated goods. GAO (1) examined existing research on the effects of counterfeiting and piracy on consumers, industries, government, and the U.S. economy; and (2) identified insights gained from efforts to quantify the effects of counterfeiting and piracy on the U.S. economy. GAO interviewed officials and subject matter experts from U.S. government agencies, industry associations, nongovernmental organizations, and academic institutions, and reviewed literature and studies quantifying or discussing the economic impacts of counterfeiting and piracy on the U.S. economy, industry, government, and consumers. GAO is making no recommendations in this report.

While you may have no trouble using Office for personal assignments, it may not go that smoothly when you have to share Office docs with other people. With a pirated license, you might have a hard time trying to edit or even open the documents.

Hackers might use pirated software to hide malware which may have serious effects on your system. Once your computer is infected with malware, hackers might use it to track your activity and capture your passwords, steal your files and ask for ransomware, damage your system, or install even more malware.

During that time I was advised by the sales person to get the pirated Microsoft as it won't do harms to my macbook and it will save extra wages rather. Therefore i've listened to him and get my macbook a pirated version. Now that I'm already working my office will provide us licensed Microsoft 365.

The reason I am so keen to uninstall it is because i realized that it has causes lots of problem to my macbook. My safari starting to lag and new tab keep opening it self (extremely annoying) my research in words can't autosave it self and a shortcut of the file keep saving it self. I a so worried that my macbook system is going down and the performance may frustrates me in a way. I have a very high expectation with Apple product and it was such a mistake to install a pirated version of Microsoft rather the licensed its so expensive that i couldn't afford it.

Microsoft is a company. It cannot be pirated. If you mean Microsoft Office, that is a product, and can be pirated, but its unlikely to be causing issues with Safari, or general slowness of your machine.

The rapid growth of e-commerce has revolutionized the way goods are bought and sold, allowing for counterfeit and pirated goods to flood our borders and penetrate our communities and homes. Illicit goods trafficked to American consumers by e-commerce platforms and online third-party marketplaces threaten public health and safety, as well as national security. This illicit activity impacts American innovation and erodes the competitiveness of U.S. manufacturers and workers.

Robert Cimino, 60, of Syracuse, N.Y., was sentenced to 18 months in prison by U.S. District Judge Anthony J. Trenga in the Eastern District of Virginia for his sales of more than $250,000 worth of pirated software, announced Assistant Attorney General Lanny A. Breuer of the Criminal Division and U.S. Attorney Neil H. MacBride of the Eastern District of Virginia.

On Feb. 25, 2010, Cimino pleaded guilty to a single count of criminal copyright infringement for manufacturing and distributing pirated copies of popular business, engineering and graphic design copies of software titles by Adobe, Autodesk, Intuit, Quark and others over a more than three-year period. According to court documents, Cimino operated under the business name "SoftwareSuite" and advertised the sale of discounted popular software programs on a variety of Internet-based advertising forums, including www.buysellcommunity.com , www.adpost.com and www.sell.com . Customers would contact Cimino by email and would typically pay for the products by PayPal. Cimino would then mail pirated copies of the programs he had burned to CD or DVD to the customers, including customers in the Eastern District of Virginia. From February 2006 to September 2009, Cimino received at least $270,035 in gross proceeds from his sales of pirated software products.

I was using a pirated Office for a while. I have since deleted it, bought one from Microsoft, downloaded it from their website, and installed it. For a while it worked OK, but after a day or two, I started getting "there's a problem with your office license" pop-ups. Using cscript ospp.vbs /dstatus gives the following information about my license (there's only one):

I was talking to one of my friends and the guy went out to some guy's house and installed MS Office for a few bucks. He was telling me that while the guy that was installing the software with a USB drive, not a CD, he noticed that a bunch of stuff was being loaded or something, kind of like reading and writing stuff and that it was taking a while to load MS office. When he told me that I freaked out and I was telling him that doesn't sound good.

Let's say that this guy was installing something bad in his pc, is it enough to just uninstall MS office or does he now have to get some kind of special antivirus software, and if yes which one or to do what function?

Seriously, the guy with the problem was 'buying'--well, paying very little for--software that very probably was pirated, and anyone over twelve years old with an IQ above room temperature would have thought was probably pirated. Any (ostensible) adult doing that sort of thing doesn't get my help.

Yes that would be the best thing, but what about all that software out there that claim to remove and clean viruses? Does any of that software out there capable of cleaning stuff like this in your computer, (if) there is some kind of virus put there on purpose? Does uninstalling MS office help in any way also?

Talking about pirated software is not allowed here so I'll just say it's possible to get "legitimate" pirated software without malicious code but I would really have to know someone and be confident in their source before allowing anyone to stick a thumb drive into my computer. 0852c4b9a8
