This Privacy Policy explains how the PY browser mobile application ("the App", "we", "us") handles information when you use it. The App is a web browser that displays Pinyin pronunciation guides above Chinese characters on the web pages you visit. By installing and using the App, you agree to this Privacy Policy.
1. Summary
The App does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal information. There is no account, no sign-in, no advertising, and no analytics. Everything the App does happens locally on your device.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
We do not collect any of the following:
Name, email address, phone number, or any other personal identifiers
Account or login credentials (the App has no accounts)
Precise or approximate location data
Contacts, photos, videos, audio, calendar, or files on your device
Advertising identifiers or device identifiers used for tracking
Usage analytics, behavioral data, or crash reports sent to us
The App contains no third-party advertising, analytics, tracking, or social SDKs.
3. Permissions
The App requests only one permission:
INTERNET — required to load the web pages you ask to visit. Without it, a browser cannot function.
The App does not request access to your camera, microphone, location, contacts, storage, or any other sensitive resource in this version.
4. How Pinyin Annotation Works
All Chinese-to-Pinyin conversion is performed entirely on your device. The Pinyin library and the annotation script are packaged inside the App itself and run locally inside the browser view. The text of the pages you visit is never sent to us, and we operate no server that receives it.
5. Browsing History Stored on Your Device
To make it easier to re-enter addresses, the App saves the website addresses (URLs) that you manually type into a local list of up to 20 recent entries. This list:
is stored only in the App's private storage on your device;
is never uploaded to us or to any third party;
is not used for advertising or profiling;
can be removed at any time by clearing the App's data or uninstalling the App.
Note: if you have enabled Android's system-level backup for your device, the operating system may include App data in your personal device backup. That backup is controlled entirely by your Android and Google account settings, not by us.
6. Third-Party Websites You Visit
The App is a browser. When you open a website, that website and the services it uses (such as its own analytics, advertising, or content delivery providers) may collect information about you under their own privacy policies. We do not control, and are not responsible for, the content or privacy practices of third-party websites.
Pages are loaded directly from the website's own servers to your device. We do not proxy, intercept, log, or retain the pages you visit. We recommend reviewing the privacy policy of any website you visit.
7. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. Because the App collects no personal data at all, no such data is gathered from children.
8. Data Security
Because we do not collect or transmit your personal data to our servers, there is no personal data held by us that could be exposed in a data breach. Any data the App stores locally (such as the recent-address list) is protected by the Android application sandbox and by your device's own security features.
9. Data Retention and Deletion
We retain no personal data on our servers. Locally stored data created by the App remains on your device until you clear the App's data or uninstall the App. You do not need to contact us to have data deleted, because we hold none.
10. Your Rights
Privacy laws such as the GDPR and the CCPA give you rights to access, correct, export, or delete personal data held about you. Since we do not collect personal data, there is nothing for us to provide or delete on your behalf. You retain full and exclusive control over all data stored locally on your device.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
