PinTogether: Family Locator
Effective date: August 6, 2026
Last updated: August 6, 2026
PinTogether provides voluntary location sharing between people who choose to connect. Because precise location is sensitive, this policy explains what we collect, why we use it, who can receive it, and how you can control or delete it.
1. Who we are and scope
This Privacy Policy applies to the PinTogether: Family Locator Android application and its related APIs and online services (collectively, the “Service”). The Service is operated by the PinTogether service operator (“PinTogether,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).
Location sharing is optional and begins only after device permission is granted and sharing is enabled.
2. Information we collect
Location information
Precise or approximate latitude and longitude, timestamp, accuracy, altitude, speed, and direction. We use this information to show current and last-known location, update online status, and provide location history.
Device and connection information
Random device identifier, device model, operating system, battery level, network type, signal level, IP address, and push token. We use this information to associate reports with a device, display device status, deliver notifications, secure the Service, and troubleshoot reliability.
Profile information
Display name, guest profile identifier, optional phone number, and email address if account features are enabled. We use this information to identify you to trusted contacts and manage your profile.
Sharing information
Invitation codes, sharing relationships, whether sharing is one-way or mutual, and connected profile identifiers. We use this information to create and enforce the sharing relationship you request.
App activity, diagnostics, and support
Screen and feature events, app version, crash stack traces, performance and configuration data, and information you choose to send to support. We use this information to operate, secure, diagnose, and improve the Service.
We do not request access to your contacts, photos, microphone, SMS messages, or call history. We do not intentionally collect payment card information.
3. How we collect information
From your device when the app obtains a location fix, reports device status, receives a push message, or records a diagnostic event.
From you when you edit a profile, enter an invitation code, choose sharing settings, or contact support.
From connected users when another user sends or accepts an invitation involving your profile.
Through service providers that support hosting, security, maps, notifications, analytics, and crash reporting.
4. How and why we use information
We use information to provide live and last-known location sharing, calculate location history, display battery and connectivity status, authenticate devices, maintain sharing relationships, send service notifications, prevent abuse, diagnose failures, comply with law, and protect users and the Service.
Where applicable, our legal bases include performing the Service you request, your consent, our legitimate interests in security and reliability, and compliance with legal obligations. You may revoke device permission in Android settings, but the affected features will stop working.
5. Location sharing and your choices
Only profiles connected through an accepted invitation and authorized by the applicable sharing relationship may receive shared data. Depending on your selected mode, sharing may be one-way or mutual. Authorized contacts may see your display name, current or last-known location, location timestamp, online status, recent route information, battery level, and connectivity status.
Share invitation codes only with people you trust. Do not publish a code publicly. You are responsible for obtaining permission before enabling the Service on another person’s device.
6. Android permissions
Precise or approximate location: required for location sharing. When the location foreground service is active, updates may continue while the app is not visible.
Notifications: used for the persistent location-service notice and service messages.
Display over other apps: optional, used for controls or status shown above other apps.
Battery optimization, wake lock, and start after reboot: used to improve continuity of location updates.
Network and Wi-Fi state: used to determine connection type and reporting availability.
7. When we disclose information
We do not sell personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We may disclose information to:
People you authorize according to your sharing relationship.
Alibaba Cloud in Singapore for application and database hosting, and Cloudflare for network delivery and security.
Google Play services and Firebase for device location, Analytics, Crashlytics, Cloud Messaging, and Remote Config. We configure our Firebase events and crash metadata not to include exact location, email, phone number, session cookies, or encryption keys.
MapLibre, OpenFreeMap, and geocoding providers to return maps and place names. They may receive IP address, request metadata, map viewport, or coordinates needed for the request.
Authorities or other parties where required by law, valid process, safety needs, or a business transfer.
8. Retention and deletion
Detailed location history is generally retained for up to 7 days. The latest-known location, profile, device record, and sharing relationships may remain while the profile is active. Operational logs and diagnostics are retained only as long as reasonably needed. Backup copies may remain until the normal backup cycle completes.
To request deletion, email lf3208474@gmail.com with the subject “Delete my PinTogether data” and include the display name and device identifier shown in the app. We may request reasonable verification and will process verified requests within the period required by applicable law.
9. Security
We use safeguards designed to protect data, including encrypted transport for production endpoints, access controls, scoped sharing relationships, restricted administrative access, database protections, monitoring, and data minimization. No system is completely secure.
10. International transfers
Core service data is hosted in Singapore, and providers may process information in other countries. Where required, we rely on recognized transfer mechanisms and contractual protections. Privacy laws may differ between countries.
11. Children and family use
The Service is intended to be configured and supervised by adults. A parent or legal guardian must install or authorize the Service on a minor’s device, explain the sharing arrangement in an age-appropriate way, and have legal authority to consent. Children must not independently create sharing relationships with strangers.
A parent or guardian may request access to or deletion of a child’s information. If we learn that information was collected without required parental authorization, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
12. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing, withdraw consent, receive a portable copy, and appeal a denied request. You may also complain to your data-protection authority.
Residents of applicable U.S. states may request access, correction, deletion, and information about disclosures. We do not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.
Submit requests to lf3208474@gmail.com. We may verify your relationship to the relevant profile or device.
13. Third-party links and emergency use
The Service may open third-party websites, app stores, maps, or email applications. Their own privacy policies apply. PinTogether is not an emergency service and must not be your only method for locating a person or contacting emergency services.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the Service, providers, or legal requirements change. We will update the “Last updated” date and provide additional notice when required.
