A Film by Jimmy Burch
About the Film
In 2025, a CEO of a film production company decides to lay off many of its staff to cut costs and make room for the use and investment of artificial intelligence. A young production assistant, heartbroken and infuriated by the news, decides to go up and confront the CEO himself. He will have to take extra measures to expose his boss.
I got the idea of Pink Slip after hearing reports of countless layoffs happening within the film industry in the past couple of years. People were unfairly losing their jobs for reasons they were not responsible for and now are facing a financial crisis. Far too many CEOs in the business have been making way too much profit and have been investing lot of money into so-called AI “tools”, which they claim will help people in production. But in reality, this tech is going to make people lazier and less competent in their work. And with AI making work easier, it will require less people, which means less people will have a job.
As a fan of Hollywood, I took this very personally. The point of Pink slip is to spark hope for those currently struggling in the Hollywood business and future generations who dream of achieving such careers. I want to prove to them that they can make a difference in Hollywood and that nothing can stop them from achieving their dreams. I also want to expose the greed in today’s CEOs who are screwing people over for their own personal gain. We cannot let these people dominate Hollywood in such a way ever again. I want to shine a light for all of Hollywood to see.
