Privacy Policy

Ping Monitor is developed and published by The Myth.

This Privacy Policy explains how Ping Monitor handles information when you use the application.

1. Overview

Ping Monitor is a network monitoring application that allows users to monitor IP addresses and hostnames using ping-based status checks.

Ping Monitor does not require a Ping Monitor account and does not operate its own backend server. Optional external diagnostic services may require their own accounts or API credentials, as explained in Section 7.

2. Information Stored on Your Device

Ping Monitor may store the following information locally on your device:

- Hostnames or IP addresses added by the user

- Host display names

- Groups and Workspaces created by the user

- Monitoring preferences

- Theme preferences

- License status cache

- Import and export configuration selected by the user

- Timestamped diagnostic sessions and results

- User-provided API keys or access tokens, stored using secure device storage

This information is stored locally on your device to provide the application’s features. Selected diagnostic targets and credentials are transmitted to the relevant external provider when you use its services, as explained in Section 7.

3. Network Monitoring Data

Ping Monitor sends network requests from your device to the IP addresses or hostnames that you add to the app.

These requests are used to determine whether a host is reachable and to calculate basic monitoring information such as status, packet loss, and latency.

Ping Monitor does not send your host list, group list, monitoring targets, or ping results to The Myth.

4. Import and Export

Ping Monitor allows users to manually export and import their monitoring configuration.

Exported files may contain hostnames, IP addresses, group names, and related monitoring configuration. Users are responsible for keeping exported files secure and sharing them only with trusted parties.

Ping Monitor does not automatically upload exported files to any server.

Where available, users can also copy, export, or share diagnostic reports. These reports may contain targets, timestamps, provider names, network routes, and measurement results. Copy places the report on the system clipboard; Export and Share use the destination or app selected by the user. User-provided API keys and tokens are not included in diagnostic reports or monitoring-configuration backups. Files or reports shared outside Ping Monitor are handled by the destination service and cannot be withdrawn by deleting the original history in Ping Monitor.

5. In-App Purchases

Ping Monitor offers optional in-app purchases such as Pro and Elite upgrades.

Payments and purchase processing are handled by Google Play Billing. Ping Monitor does not collect or store your payment card information.

The app may check your purchase status through Google Play in order to unlock paid features.

6. Data Collection

Ping Monitor does not collect personal information such as:

- Name

- Email address

- Phone number

- Contacts

- Photos or videos

- Precise location

- Payment card details

Ping Monitor does not use advertising SDKs and does not track users for advertising purposes.

7. Data Sharing

The Myth does not sell or rent user data. Data is transmitted to external services when you use the features described below or choose to export or share information.

Some functionality, such as in-app purchases, is provided through Google Play services. Google may process data according to Google’s own privacy policy and Google Play Billing requirements.

7.1 Optional External Diagnostics

Depending on the app version and available features, Diagnostics can use Local Device, Globalping, Shodan GeoNet, or DomainScan. Selecting Local Device runs the diagnostic from your device rather than through an external diagnostic provider. Selecting a remote provider sends the target IP address or hostname and the relevant test settings to that provider. Compare sends requests to each selected provider. Providers also receive connection information, such as the source IP address, needed to process requests.

Globalping supports public measurements and an optional user-owned access token. Shodan GeoNet diagnostics use its public service without a Shodan API key; an optional Shodan account key is used separately for account verification. Provider connection or account checks contact the corresponding service when initiated by the user.

DomainScan is an optional Bring Your Own API Key (BYOK) integration for remote Ping and Traceroute. Each user obtains an account and API key directly from DomainScan. Ping Monitor does not bundle or share a developer-owned DomainScan key. Requests go directly from the device to the DomainScan API over HTTPS, using the user’s key for authentication. The selected target and diagnostic settings are sent for the requested test. The Test Connection action sends a test Ping request for 1.1.1.1 and may consume DomainScan credits. Usage, quotas, credits, and applicable limits belong to the user’s DomainScan account.

API credentials are stored using secure device storage and are not included in diagnostic history or monitoring-configuration backups. Users can remove a saved provider credential through Disconnect. Removing a credential does not delete previously saved history or close the provider account.

Diagnostic results are stored locally as timestamped history, not presented as new live measurements. A new diagnostic run makes a new request. Users can delete history and use the available retention controls. Ping Monitor does not aggregate diagnostic histories across users or upload them to The Myth. Users may explicitly copy, export, or share their reports as described in Section 4.

External providers process information under their own terms and privacy policies. Please review them before sending sensitive targets or using their services:

8. Data Security

Ping Monitor stores app configuration locally on your device.

You should protect your device with a secure lock screen and avoid sharing exported configuration files with untrusted parties, especially if they contain private IP addresses, hostnames, or internal network information.

9. Children’s Privacy

Ping Monitor is not designed for children and is not directed to children.

The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time.

If changes are made, the updated Privacy Policy will be published at the same Privacy Policy URL.
