The world is rapidly moving toward cleaner, smarter, and more sustainable ways of producing chemicals, fuels, materials, and everyday products. With growing concerns around climate change and environmental impact, industries are now looking for technologies that are efficient, eco-friendly, and economically viable. This is exactly where our laboratory steps in.
The Process Intensification and Advanced Materials (π-NAM) Lab at the Department of Chemical Engineering, IIT Jammu, is driven by a shared mission:
"To develop innovative processes and next-generation materials that contribute to a sustainable future."
In our lab, we work on:
Designing smarter chemical processing units that use less energy and create less waste
Creating advanced and nanostructured materials for applications across energy, environmental protection, and separation technologies
Our research projects span exciting and impactful areas. Some examples include:
Developing new, efficient CO2 mineralisation designs that may one day serve as portable alternatives reduce gloable CO2 emissions
Innovative separation techniques to recover high-value chemicals from industrial or municipal waste, helping address the growing waste management challenge
Students in the π-NAM Lab get the opportunity to:
Work on real-world, high-impact problems
Learn to design and build functional prototypes
Collaborate across disciplines like energy science, materials engineering, biotechnology, and sustainability
Present their work at conferences and contribute to publications and patents
If you are passionate about clean technology, energy innovation, advanced materials, or sustainable engineering, the π-NAM lab offers a place where your ideas can truly create impact.
