ATE, KUYA, ADING MENTORSHIP PROGRAM

Family is a core value in Filipino culture. Filipino families grow strong bonds that are carried from generation to generation. 

Ate-Kuya-Ading (AKA) is PAC’s Big/Little or Mentorship program! General Members fill out an application describing themselves (likes, dislikes, etc.) and Membership Chair + their pairing committee pairs each member with another general member who potentially resembles an older sibling or mentorship role! AKA provides members of PAC with that same strong bond that lasts a lifetime. For most adings who get picked up, their Ate/Kuya/Twin(s) are their first close friends in college. Many of these friendships made through AKA are kept alive after college.

AKA Applications will be open on the PAC link-tree starting 9/11 after AKA Social #1 and will close on 9/20 at midnight. If you missed this semester’s AKA you can always join the following semester!

KAPATIDS MONTH

Kapatids Month is one of the ways we unite our kapatids by being a member 

through academics, culture, and philanthropy!

ACADEMIC PILLAR: "During Kapitids Month, this is a great time to be praised for all your hard work, lock-in sessions, and being an academic weapon!  School can be rough, especially as finals are creeping up, just know that we’re here to support you guys both academically and as a person too. If you need a time to lock in, come to study nights! You need help with time management, or even if you need a friend to talk to we gotchu. Let us know if you shared study tips, tutored each other before a test, had group study sessions, or even if you did better on a test! Each and any academic act you submit will earn points for your fam! Kapitids surround the idea of family and PAC being the family that is here to support you not just to help celebrate your culture but to help you reach your goals and be the version of yourself you want to be!" - Rich Juson/Academic Chair

CULTURAL PILLAR: "During Kapatids Month, the Cultural Chair aims to emphasize Filipino culture and community. While the month’s purpose is for members to bond with their “kapatids,” or, in English, siblings, it remains important not to lose track of the foundation of PAC: our Filipino heritage. Throughout the month, the Cultural Chair will host activities such as learning and playing different Filipino games, completing short questionnaires about cultural lessons, and leading discussions on the significance of our culture (e.g., “What does Filipino culture mean to you?”). These activities will ultimately give members the opportunity to earn points for their Fam because, remember, Filipinos love some friendly competition! Through these activities, the cultural chair hopes to bring all kapatids closer together while creating a greater appreciation for the culture that connects everyone." - Landen Hementera/Cultural Chair

PHILANTHROPY PILLAR: "During Kapatids Month, the Philanthropy Chair hopes to continue raising awareness of the current events within our filipino community, be a part of a good cause, and continue to grow the education of our kapatids about the importance of community. Throughout Kapatids Month, this position aims to; collect canned goods for food banks and raise money for filipino organizations/community who may need assistance. During this month it is important to highlight the filipino community within this club, and most importanly connect our members to the rest of their kapatids whether that's around the area, or back in the Philippines. Philanthropy is more than just action, it's the heart- The heart of being a filipino seeking to find a way to give back to our own community."

MEMBERSHIP PILLAR: "During Kapatid's month, the Membership Chair aims to boost the engagement with our fellow kapatids in the club! The Pilipino culture is all about family and what better way to get closer with one another than with some friendly competition! Membership Chair hosts "Pacsassins" and "Broomball"!  These give you additional chances to win points for your fam! Each opportunity to win points for your fam brings members together strengthening the kapatid bond seen everywhere in the Philippines." -Papa Lawn/Membership Chair
