Dear Students,
I am so honored to be your teacher this year. Teaching is my life; I am going to give it everything I’ve got this year, and hope you do the same. I teach Pre-AP English II and OnRamps English III & IV (Rhetoric) this year at Joshua High School.
As far as my own education goes, in 2011 I received my B.A. is in English Literature, with a focus in Creative Writing from the University of North Texas. Then in 2017, I received my Masters degree in Education. I also have a Technical Writing Certificate and Spanish Minor.
This is my 11th year of teaching. I've spent 7 of those years in FWISD and have consistently taught sophomores (Honors English II) and dual-enrollment OnRamps classes on behalf of the University of Texas in Austin.
I have a HUGE passion for rhetoric and reading. I read everything from auto-biographies to mystery and suspense. I'd be more than happy to talk "books" with you. I'm also open to recommendations!
I am an avid lover of nature; thus, when I can, I spend my free time hiking and enjoying a variety of mountain views. My hobbies include the outdoors, crafting, cycling, and cheering on my favorite hockey team (the Dallas Stars!!).
I'm looking forward to getting to know you, so please let me know if you have any questions or needs!
LeAnn Kitchens, M.Ed.
