Our Advocacy team focuses on advancing global health equity through empowering systemic change and and public advocacy. This pillar aims to influence public policy by engaging with lawmakers, encouraging grassroots efforts, and spreading awareness of global health issues.
The Advocacy pillar consists of 3 teams: Creative-Communications, Logistics, and Political Strategy. Creative-Communications focuses on compelling graphics, social media management, and direct community outreach. Logistics focuses on the coordination of events, advocacy campaigns, and outreach efforts. Political strategy focuses on legislative engagement and organization of direct advocacy efforts.
Our Community Building team focuses on fostering relationships within PIH Engage and with the greater global health community. This pillar strives to provide education about systemic issues that lead to poor health outcomes and raise awareness about the crisises faced by the global health community. These goals are met through seminars, discussions, and events hosted by PIH Engage at UT Austin. The Community Building team is made up of the Project team and the Partnerships team.
At Partners in Health UT Austin, fundraising is crucial to our mission of supporting global health equity. We raise funds individually and as an organization through personal fundraising campaigns and group initiatives such as bake sales and profit shares. In the past, our fundraising efforts have contributed to healthcare initiatives in Sierra Leone, and we are now focusing on supporting the End Tuberculosis Act alongside PIH’s broader mission. Through these efforts, we strive to make a tangible impact on global health while engaging our community in advocacy and action.
