Here at Piggie Paradise, we value the life and wellbeing of small animals and communicate proper care to our customers.
This is a collection of photos screenshotted 10/28/21 of guinea pigs and rabbits posted for rehoming within a 24 hour period in the states of Massachusetts and Connecticut across private Facebook groups and Craigslist.
We accept surrenders and partner with local rescue organizations to create a convenient way to find and properly care for your new little buddy -- without contributing to reckless breeding and other immoral practices driven by the commercialization of small animals.
Why would someone want to rehome their Guinea Pig?
Guinea pig supplies are expensive! Plenty of pet stores make sure of this. A 2x3 foot wire rack with a plastic bottom costs nearly a hundred dollars!
Guinea pigs can live up to 10 years!
Guinea pigs require a lot more time and energy than many realize.
We make efforts to provide the right materials at a reasonable price, so everyday expense concerns can be a thing of the past. And the materials you really want can finally be available in a storefront setting.
We educate our employees about proper guinea pig care and communicate this information to our customers before they make this important decision. We aren't in this for a quick buck!Â
Educating customers could help reduce:
guinea pig mistreatment -- small cages, poor diet, malnutrition, depression/loneliness
backyard breeding
premature guinea pig deaths
reckless adoptions -- leading to rehoming for either financial, boredom, maintenance, boar fighting, or other reasons.
We accept surrenders into the store as well as partnering with other rescues as needed to avoid contributing to the vicious breeding cycle which leads to guinea pig overpopulation and rehoming.
