Pietro Bomprezzi

I am a postdoctoral researcher at the Leibniz University Hannover - Institute for Macroeconomics under Prof. Martin Gassebner. I hold a PhD from the University of Milan-Bicocca under the supervision of Prof. Silvia Marchesi. I am also a research fellow at the Kiel Institute for the World Economy, where I am involved with the Ukraine Support Tracker.

I will be visiting KU Leuven under Prof. Paul Schaudt from September 2026 to September 2027 as a DAAD PRIME fellow. Please reach out if you are in Brussels!

My research interests lie at the intersection of development economics and international finance. The use of natural language processing tools and firm-level data are a key part of my research identity.

In my current research agenda, I study the political and economic determinants of European bilateral aid projects through the use of a newly introduced, geocoded dataset on European ODA projects. Please visit at GODAD.
