The Kaikoura earthquake happened on the 13 November 2016 and was measured as a magnitude Mw 7.8 earthquake. This earthquake was particularly striking by the number of faults it involved. Indeed more than 16 fault were ruptured. In March 2019, we conducted an investigation on one of the fault, the Whites fault, that may have play a role by transferring stress from the Hundalee fault to the Upper Kowhai fault.
