I myself (Abhinav Kushwaha) am the proprietor/founder of “PI ENTERPRISES”. I am the leader of my enterprises. A leader is an architect of successful businesses or enterprises. As an entrepreneur, it is my fate to lead employees/associates/partners, to foster a team culture in our enterprises, to serve my best as a leader.
Not one leadership style is fits for all business goals. Based on the situations or circumstances for our current and future business goals, following leadership style will be useful for my business goals:
Autocratic: This can be a good system for making quick and informed decisions when needed.
Democratic: Partly useful for our current business (dsp/edsp), as it encourages good leadership, good communication and participation. Very useful for future business goals, if new opportunities/partnership will arrive from Amazon, ex- Amazon-fresh in my city, which involves dealing with farmers, traders, and suppliers.
Laissez-faire: This particular form of leadership is best suited for our highly experienced, well trained, and trusted team members/associates/contractors/drivers. A Laissez-faire leader will delegate tasks to team members and give their team members free range on how they do their work. They provide resources and support, but otherwise, have very little involvement and supervision. Managers will have more time to spend on their own projects and trust adequate work will be completed without micromanaging their team members.
Transactional leadership model: Useful leadership style for our business goals. The transactional leadership style is rooted in the principle that “work is a transaction”- assuming all employees are motivated by one structured reward system. A good example of this is a commission based structure: employees are rewarded upon the work that they do. Because of this, transactional leaders are not involved in managing the emotional needs of employees- they are strictly focused on producing results. This result-focused management method is best suited for self-motivated employees.
Bennis & Nanus Transformational leadership model: Very useful for our business goals. Bennis and Nanus has evolved the model which emphasis on the four I’s of Transformational leadership, which are
Idealised Influence (being a role model)
Inspirational Motivation (creating a team spirit, motivating and provide a challenge)
Intellectual Stimulation (innovation and creativity)
Individual Consideration (mentoring and providing support for teams members/associates/contractors/employees).
My personal leadership: My life experience in society/community, grass-root level knowledge and learning. It will help me to foster leadership style for my business goals.
Some of the leadership “qualities”:
Motivation: Quality to inspire and motivate my team members/associates/contractors/employees.
Humility: Put myself grounded. The quality of having modest or low view of one’s importance. I will learn from everyone.
Values: I believe that an organization should be run on principles, not on personalities.
Positive attitude: Positive outlook towards any difficult situation, smile on face in every situation.
