The Earth is probably the best planet I've ever been to, so I like to keep abreast of what's going on in the world. I found this desktop background great for monitoring cloud cover, the advance of day and night and noctornal lights around the globe.

I would have liked to have seen a few more options, such as the ability to rotate the image on your desktop, but on the whole Desktop Earth provides a decent solar clock, a rudimentary weather chart and, more importantly, a stunning view from your desktop.

However, rather than embed it in a web page, is it possible for some code to embed new functionality within the Google Earth desktop application itself? or is writing my own app with an embedded web browser my only option?

earlier today i noticed a Google Earth icon on my desktop, apparently an hour after it was created. i have installed Google Earth on my computer about a year ago (and don't think i uninstalled it) but this is the first time anything like this has happened. I've scanned the icon and folder in the Google folder in program files with windows defender and it came back negative. in programs and features, the publisher is listed as "google" instead of "google inc" as it is for chrome, and it lists the install date as today. I'm afraid to attempt to uninstall it from there because i don't know if the uninstaller could also be malware. in addition, it appears as though a few of my normally running programs (realtek audio manager etc) were closed or stopped running. Google Chrome doesn't list anything new in the downloads tab. am i being overly cautious or is this a possible threat?

So I woke up today to new a new icon on my desktop named Google Earth Pro. I certainly didn't download or install it myself. I have had the regular Google earth installed for some time now but didn't have a desktop icon for it.

Has a virus made it into my computer or is this a real program? It does appear to link to the correct directory, same as google earth minus its own folder. But I'm still very apprehensive about it. Seeing as it facilitated its own install somehow.

In ArcGIS Earth iOS, I recorded a track (KMZ format) and uploaded it to my ArcGIS Online portal account. In AGOL on my desktop computer, for my uploaded KMZ track, I selected Open in Map Viewer. It failed to load in the Map Viewer with the following message:

The desktop version was great. I used it all the time to check out locations of Robo-callers wanting to do home repair or Solar Panels. Oh yes! I have an office in your city and here is the address. Our team is currently in your neighborhood. Found many fake addresses and saved me the time of driving to the location. I DO NOT LIKE WEB PROGRAMS.

When you download the .KML file from Caltopo, Gaia, AllTrails, etc., it will appear at the bottom of your browser as an icon. Simply click on the icon to launch Google Earth Pro and your file will load in the desktop app.

A few years back, Google launched Google Earth through a chrome extension, rather than just a desktop app. As I admitted before, I more often use the desktop app, but I will do my best to explain how to use the web version.

The first step is the same: download your file as a .KML file. Bing maps and Earth engine doesnot appear while clicking the plot in collect earth interface. It so happens that only one of the windows appear at a time (either Bing maps or Earth Engine) but does not appear both. How do i solve this problem?
