Other Community Service Organizations and Projects

While our elementary schools in Piedmont offer opportunites to serve our community, there are many worthy organizations that also have great projects and ideas. Here we showcase some great ideas that kids can use to help do a world of good.

Storytime with Mr. Limata

Other Ideas

Mr. Limata is a stellar teacher at OPUSD Emerson Elementary. His read alouds focus on the values of equity, diversity, and social justice. Kids can choose to get those books for themselves, our school libraries and our chosen Oakland public schools. Here is one organization donating books that Mr. Limata supports. https://bethechangelibrary.org/

Donors Choose

As a donor, your kids first get to choose a public school teacher's classroom. when the supplies they asked for arrive, your kids will get thank you notes from the teacher and the students! This project connects our kids in Piedmont to our neighbors in Oakland.

Food Bank

Alameda County Community Food Bank (ACCFB) Food Drives. In the past Piedmont Elementary Schools and SERVES have hosted both virtual and barrel food drives to support ACCFB. Typically our Food Drives are in the spring.

Currently Piedmont Scouts is hosting its annual Scouting for Food - this year it is virtual. The need for food in our county has doubled during the COVID Pandemic.

Please donate through Piedmont Scouts. Or directly to ACCFB. Below are the links. For every $1 you donate the food bank can buy $7 worth of food.
