Laura created Pico Pico to bring joyful, real, and bilingual learning to life. ✏️ laura@picopicolingo.com
Hi, I’m Laura Sepúlveda: mom, journalist, and bilingual educator.
Pico Pico isn’t a corporation, a production company, or an animation studio. Behind every story, song, and video is me.
I hold a degree in Social Communication and Journalism from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana (Bogotá, Colombia), with more than 15 years of experience working in international media. My journey between Colombia and the United States brings a bilingual and bicultural perspective to Pico Pico.
In 2014, I trained in bilingual education and earned my certification in Teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) from Hudson County Schools of Technology in New Jersey. I also work closely with my husband, a native English speaker, to ensure that the language remains natural and authentic for bilingual families.
Pico Pico was born from the combination of my media background and motherhood. It’s the bilingual channel I was looking for as a mom but couldn’t find. That’s also why the voice of our main character is my own son’s, giving each story an authentic and personal touch.
I bring professional rigor to the research, writing, recording, and editing of every video, always guided by one question: Does this truly contribute to a child’s development?
My purpose is to help little ones learn, imagine, and create through high quality content, without sacrificing their healthy development for the sake of views or algorithms.
