Privacy Policy for Picmate
Effective Date: January 1, 2026
At Picmate, we are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains our practices regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of information when you use the Picmate Chrome Extension.
1. No Data Collection
Picmate does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information or user data. We believe that your data belongs to you. All operations performed by Picmate, including image scanning, filtering, and processing, occur strictly locally within your browser. We do not have servers to receive your data, and we do not use any third-party analytics or tracking scripts.
2. Explanation of Permissions Used
To provide its core functionality, Picmate requires certain permissions. Here is why we need them:
•
activeTab: Used only to scan the current webpage for images when you explicitly click the "Scan" button.
•
scripting: Used to analyze the webpage's structure (DOM) to find images, srcsets, and CSS background images.
•
downloads: Necessary to save your selected images or bundled ZIP files directly to your local "Downloads" folder.
•
storage: Used to save your local preferences, such as your preferred language (English/Vietnamese), UI theme (Light/Dark), and download settings.
•
sidePanel: Provides a convenient sidebar interface so you can interact with the extension without obscuring the main webpage content.
•
Host Permissions (<all_urls>): This is required to fetch image metadata (like file size) and bypass CORS (Cross-Origin Resource Sharing) restrictions. This allows the extension to process and convert images from different domains into a single ZIP file for you.
3. Data Security and Local Processing
Picmate is designed with security in mind:
•
No Remote Code: We do not use remote code or external scripts. 100% of the logic is contained within the extension package reviewed by Google.
•
Local Execution: Your browsing history, image URLs, and files never leave your computer. The image conversion (Canvas processing) happens entirely in your browser's memory.
4. Third-Party Disclosure
Since we do not collect any information, we do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your data to outside parties. Picmate is a clean, ad-free, and tracker-free utility.
5. Compliance with Google Developer Policies
Picmate complies with the Chrome Web Store Developer Program Policies, including the "User Data Privacy" requirements. We ensure that the extension only requests the minimum permissions necessary to function.
6. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. Any changes will be updated on this page.
7. Contact Us
If you have any questions or suggestions about our Privacy Policy, do not hesitate to contact us through our official GitHub repository or support channels.
