Purposes of Pickens County Retired Educators
To provide opportunity for support and fellowship with friends and retired educators.
To provide an organizational framework through which retired educators can continue a life of service to fellow members, their active colleagues, and their communities.
To respond to community needs and encourage retired educators to contribute their talents and experience to the decision-making processes in their communities.
To familiarize retired and active educators with benefits of membership in the Local Unit and the State Organization.
PCREA is an association of retired educators from Pickens County as well as from within the state of Georgia and across the country. All are welcome! We are retired school administrators, counselors, media specialists, technology specialists, and professional assistants. Our membership includes all retired educators and others members who continue to care deeply about what happens to students in our schools.
Meetings give members the opportunity to share experiences, meet with friends, learn more about available services for retirees, keep up on state legislation that impacts the Georgia Teacher Retirement System as well as support for local charitable actions.
Our meetings include guest speakers from the community, state legislature, and other organizations that impact teacher retirements. Members are given new information at each meeting that keeps them well informed!
