At PicBoost, we value your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, and safeguard your data when you use our app. By using PicBoost, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
We do not collect personally identifiable information (PII) unless you voluntarily provide it to us (such as logging in with your Google account). However, we request certain permissions and collect basic technical data to provide our services:
1. Push Notifications: With your consent, we use Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) to send notifications about updates, token resets, and new features. You can disable this at any time in the app settings.
2. Photo / Gallery Access: We require access to your device's photo gallery to allow you to select and upload images for processing. We do not access, view, or upload any photos unless you explicitly select them for AI enhancement. (We do not access or process videos).
3. Google Account Info: If you choose to sign in with Google, we collect your basic profile information (display name, email address, profile photo URL, and unique User ID) to manage your account, token balance, and sync your data.
4. Device Information: We collect basic device information (Android/iOS version, system language settings) to optimize app compatibility and automatically set your preferred language.
PicBoost uses the data you provide to deliver and improve our photo enhancement features:
1. Image Processing (Replicate AI): When you select a photo and trigger an AI tool or filter, the image is securely sent via HTTPS to the Replicate API for processing. Replicate runs the AI model and generates a processed output image. The generated Replicate CDN URL is temporary and expires within approximately 1 hour.
2. Local Caching & Firebase Storage:
- For Free / Guest Users: To keep your history working after the temporary Replicate URL expires, the processed photo is cached locally on your device's storage. It is not saved on our cloud servers.
- For Premium Users: The processed photo is uploaded to our secure Firebase Cloud Storage bucket and the permanent URL is saved in Cloud Firestore under your User ID. This allows your history to never expire and sync across your devices.
3. SharedPreferences: We use local storage (SharedPreferences) to save your preferences (such as notification settings, default language) and local image history metadata.
4. AI Training: Neither PicBoost nor Replicate uses your uploaded or processed photos to train artificial intelligence models. Your photos remain your private property.
We display ads using Google AdMob for free/guest users. AdMob may collect device identifiers and activity data to serve personalized or non-personalized advertisements. You can manage or opt-out of personalized tracking through your mobile device's built-in privacy settings (Google Ads Settings on Android or App Tracking Transparency on iOS).
PicBoost requests the following permissions:
- Gallery Access: To select photos for AI processing.
- Notifications: To send updates, reminders, or token alerts.
- Device State: To determine language settings and system compatibility.
We do not collect any sensitive background data.
- Store Transactions: All subscriptions (PRO Plan / Unlimited access) and token package purchases are managed exclusively by the respective platforms (Google Play Store on Android and Apple App Store on iOS).
- No Payment Storage: PicBoost does not collect, process, or store credit card numbers, billing addresses, or any other financial payment information.
- Cancellation and Refunds: Subscriptions can be canceled at any time through your Google Play or Apple App Store account settings. Platform store refund policies apply.
We use the following services to run the application:
- Replicate API: For running machine learning models and visual enhancements. Images are sent securely via HTTPS.
- Firebase (Google): For account authentication (Google Sign-In), database sync (Cloud Firestore), push notifications (FMC), and cloud storage (Firebase Storage).
- Google AdMob: For serving in-app advertisements.
We implement industry-standard security measures to safeguard your information.
- Local data (preferences and local history) remains on your device.
- Cloud data (for signed-in users) is securely stored in Firebase servers and protected by Firebase Security Rules, ensuring only you can access your private folder.
PicBoost is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If we discover that we have inadvertently collected data from a child under 13, we will take immediate steps to delete it from our databases.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any significant changes will be communicated through in-app notices or updates to the policy file. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
