Piano Lessons - (801) 602-7040 You can do this! I can teach you!
I began piano lessons at 5 years old. At 6 years old, I began composing. At first, I started playing by ear, which helped my ability to retain pieces without music. It was an important stepping stone for expressing pieces musically. I have played for more than 30 years and have written numerous works for the piano, and other works for small ensembles. I have several degrees in music, which includes piano and composition. I also plan to continue my education and pursue doctoral studies at the earliest convenience.
As a graduate student, I taught the piano proficiency course for music majors and the beginning and intermediate piano courses to non-music majors. I was also an instructor for the 160R private lessons at BYU.
When I am not teaching or playing, I am a tuning pianos, composing, and performing private concerts in Utah County.
Since practicing is critical to progress, I try to instill a desire to practice. I also try to help them develop in their specific strengths, weaknesses, and ways where they will be able to share their talents with others. Of course, it's my hope they will go on to study music.
I tailor lessons to the needs of each individual and seek to help them reach their potential using a variety of methods, including technique, repertoire, musicianship skills, playing by ear, sight reading, theory, and composition.
