CLINICAL REASONING ASSESSMENT FOR ORTHOPAEDIC AND MANUAL THERAPISTS
Private practice means making hundreds of clinical decisions without structured feedback. You've completed advanced certifications, but are you consistently integrating all 8 reasoning domains that separate expert from proficient practice?
I help manual therapy, orthopedic, and vestibular rehabilitation PTs translate evidence-based frameworks into clinical decision making expertise through systematic, multidimensional clinical reasoning assessment.
Michael Post, PT, DPT, Dip. MDT, FAAOMPT
THE CHALLENGE OF ISOLATED PRACTICE
As a private practice PT, you face a unique professional development gap:
No structured clinical mentorship after fellowship training
Limited peer feedback on complex cases
Uncertainty whether you're integrating narrative, collaborative, and ethical reasoning alongside your strong diagnostic skills
Evidence-based frameworks learned in coursework but inconsistently applied in real patient encounters
You know the research. You've done the training. But without systematic external assessment, blind spots persist, and you won't know where they are until a case doesn't progress as expected.
COMPREHENSIVE 8-DOMAIN ASSESSMENT
Systematic evaluation across all clinical reasoning strategies from the Jensen & Mostrom educational framework:
- Diagnostic Reasoning
- Narrative Reasoning
- Procedural Reasoning

HOW IT WORKS
STEP 1: BOOK & SECURE YOUR ASSESSMENT
Click the booking button to select your 30-minute debrief time and complete your $99 prepayment. This secures your consultation on the calendar and initiates the assessment process.
STEP 2: SUBMIT YOUR CASE DETAILS
Immediately after booking, you will receive a confirmation email with links to your two professional intake documents: the Liability Waiver and the Clinical Case Rounding Sheet.
Many clinicians find completing the structured rounding sheet to be a rewarding exercise in clinical reflection, offering immediate clarity on your decision-making patterns even before we meet. Please submit these de-identified, HIPAA-compliant forms (20-30 minutes) at least 48 hours before our scheduled call .
STEP 3: DEBRIEF & DEVELOPMENT PLAN
Within 48 hours of your case submission, receive your full 8-domain report and radar chart. We will then meet for your scheduled 30-minute debrief to establish your clinical growth targets.
Total time investment: ~60 minutes total delivered over 1 week from initial consultation to final debrief.
IDEAL CLIENTS:
✓ Private practice orthopedic/manual therapy PTs
✓ Vestibular rehabilitation specialists
✓ Fellowship-trained clinicians (FAAOMPT, Dip.MDT, similar) seeking ongoing professional development
✓ Solo practitioners without structured mentorship systems
✓ Clinicians 3-10+ years post-certification who want to validate and refine their clinical reasoning
THIS ASSESSMENT IS ESPECIALLY VALUABLE IF YOU:
→ Feel strong in diagnostic reasoning but uncertain about integration of collaborative, narrative, or ethical reasoning
→ Want external validation of your clinical decision-making process
→ Are preparing to mentor other clinicians and want to identify your own reasoning patterns first
→ Have noticed certain patient populations or presentations where your outcomes are less consistent
NOT THE RIGHT FIT:
✗ Employed PTs with robust mentorship systems already in place
✗ Clinicians seeking clinical supervision (this is educational consultation, not supervision)
✗ Students (better suited for structured mentorship programs)
Most private practice PTs lack access to the structured feedback and mentorship available in academic medical centers or large hospital systems. This consultation service fills that gap.
Michael Post, PT, DPT, Dip. MDT, FAAOMPT, brings advanced training in orthopedic and manual therapy, McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy expertise, and doctoral-level study of clinical reasoning frameworks to help practicing therapists bridge the evidence-practice divide.
The service uses the Jensen & Mostrom Clinical Reasoning Strategies Model, an evidence-based framework validated in physical therapy education, to systematically assess reasoning across eight interdependent domains. This approach moves beyond technical skill evaluation to examine how clinicians think through complex patient presentations, integrate patient narratives, and make sound clinical decisions.
