Welcome to the PhySICS Lab!
PhySICS Lab investigates the fundamental physics of fluid flow in complex environments. From calmly sitting droplets to frenetically moving cells, our research dives into the physics of passive systems, active matter, and the fascinating flows of biological life—from cellular to tissue scales. The overarching goal is to uncover the physical principles governing these systems and translate that understanding into real-world applications.
We combine theoretical modeling, computational simulations, and experiments to understand and study fluid behavior across a wide range of length and time scales in a variety of complex systems. Drawing on continuum mechanics, statistical physics, and soft matter theory, the research addresses challenges at the intersection of chemical engineering, physics, mechanical engineering, biology, medical science, materials science and nanotechnology. Through this interdisciplinary approach, our aim is to advance both fundamental understanding and practical innovations in areas like digital & droplet microfluidics, healthcare, energy, and soft materials.
Prospective PhD students with a keen interest in fluid dynamics, soft matter physics, and related computational or theoretical studies are encouraged to get in touch.
