Three Week Online Short Term Course on
Organized by Department of Physics,
Shri Shivaji Science College, Amravati (MS).
Introduction:
Nanoscience and nanotechnology are a rapidly developing fields, which comprises a diverse collection of disciplines. The applications of nanomaterials are gaining overwhelming comeback in almost all the fields. The course covers introduction and scope, nanostructures, effect of nanoscale dimensions on various properties, synthesis methods, characterization techniques, applications of nanomaterials and nanocomposites.
Course Objectives:
This course will be an exploration of the world of nanoscience and nanotechnology to the Faculties, Research scholars and Students. The participants will be equipped with useful knowledge of the synthesis, design, processing, characterization, properties, modeling approaches and application potentials, of the broad range of nanomaterials and nanocomposites, emphasized through online visual demonstrations. Participants will learn about the growing applications of nanomaterials in many fields like electronics, aerospace, nuclear, biomedical, electronics, energy and chemical engineering.
Learning outcomes:
After completion of the course the students should be:
Acquainted with several synthesis methods for fabrication of inorganic nanoparticles, one-dimensional nanostructures (nanotubes, nanorods, nanowires), thin films, nano-porous materials, and nanostructured bulk materials, and also could describe how different synthesis strategies can be used for making nanostructures.
Qualitatively describe how the nanoparticle size can affect the morphology, crystal structure, reactivity and physical properties.
Capable to understand various nanomaterials characterization techniques, including X-ray diffraction, FTIR, UV-vis spectroscopy, electron microscopy techniques (SEM and TEM), etc.
Capable to perform stoichiometric calculations of chemical reaction.
Able to analyze and interpret data related to X-ray diffraction, UV-VIS spectra, FTIR spectra and other structural parameters.
Acquire knowledge to evaluate which synthesis methods that can be best suited for fabricating nanostructured materials of various inorganic compounds (metals, semiconductors, oxides, ceramics).
THREE WEEKS (27th July – 15th August 2020)
