Physics Program, OUTR, Bhubaneswar running a 5-year Integrated M.Sc. and 2-year M.Sc. programme in Physics was established in the year 2014.
The student strength of 5-year and 2-year M.Sc. programme are 30 (admission through OJEE counselling, Odisha, website: https://ojee.nic.in) and 20 (admission through Higher Education Department, Post Graduation counselling, Odisha, website: https://pg.samsodisha.gov.in/) respectively in each year.
Physics Program is participating in the courses offered by other programs.
To teach B.Tech., Integrated M.Sc. and M.Sc. course, 15 numbers of faculties are appointed including visiting professor faculties from Utkal University and Other State Govt. colleges. The faculties are engaged in research in the areas of Condensed Matter Physics, Cosmology, Material Science, Nano-Science etc.
The Physics program has well-equipped laboratories both for B.Tech, 5-year Integrated and 2-year M.Sc. programme.
Students will attend labs where they will see physics in action and discussion sections. Physics Program has 9 laboratories including computer laboratory. Experiment set-ups are available for Sessional work to substantiate the theory being taught in the classes. It is equipped with all the apparatus required as per the curriculum. Adequate number of sets of each experiment is available so as to accommodate 30 students at a time in the laboratory. The dark room of the physics lab is well equipped to conduct optical experiments.
A comprehensive demonstration carried out by the teachers for each experiment to help the students in better understanding of the subject. Besides that in every practical class there is a viva-voce test of the concerned experiment to asses the understanding of the students.
