Accommodations for Disability:
Please let me know at the beginning of the semester if you have disabilities requiring accommodations so that we can make sure your needs are met, and make sure you contact the campus Disability Support Programs and Services (DSPS): https://www.sdmiramar.edu/campus/dsps
Attendance and Course Withdrawals
You are expected to attend all lectures and labs. Please try to arrive on time, as late arrivals can be a distraction (and you will miss important information). Please be aware of the following:
If you exceed more than 6 unexcused absences during the semester, you can be dropped from the course.
Do not assume that I will drop you; it is YOUR responsibility to drop if you are not able to attend regularly.
If I notice you are frequently absent, I will send you an email and we can discuss options, but again, please be aware that if you can't attend regularly, you probably will struggle with this class.
Please be aware that emailing me to say you cannot make class does not count as an excused absence; excused absences are generally for medical, family, religious, and/or military reasons, and I can request documentation for these absences.
Cheating and Plagiarism- Just don't do it. It's not worth it.
Please respect the standards of student conduct while in class; refer to Board Policy 3100, Procedures 3100.1 and 3100.2, the current college catalog, and the student handbook for guidance.
In particular, any form of cheating or plagiarism will not be tolerated and could result in an "F" letter grade for the assignment, project, exam, or even the entire course, for all students involved.
Posting quiz or exam questions to online tutoring sites such as Chegg, Slader, Course Hero, is considered cheating.
All of these websites have a similar policy: if an instructor requests the information, they will share who posted material to their site.
I will check these sites during and after exams to make sure none of the exam questions show up there.
Using artificial intelligence (AI) to generate any type of answer, including written answers in lab reports, is considered cheating.
The use of AI to produce any writing for this course is not allowed unless it is otherwise stated by the instructor. If a student is found to have used AI-generated content for an assignment, that student may fail the assignment or the course.
If cheating does become a problem, I will modify the way exams and assignments are administered.
All violations of academic honesty will be reported to the school dean for appropriate action.
