Marking Scheme
35% Exam
30% Three Tests (each worth 10%)
15% Practicals (combination of tutorials and labs)
12% Participation (textbook homework, in-class questions, after-chapter reflections)
8% Written Homework (weekly)
Note 1: If you do better on the exam than any of your tests, your (one) lowest test score will have 5% of its weight transferred to the exam.
Note 2: There are no make-up tests. If you miss a test for a valid reason, the weight will be moved to your other test/exam grades.
Note 3: You have 5 business days after a grade has been returned to the class to request a regrade. There is a specific process that must be followed. Details will be made available through Quercus.
Academic Integrity
The tests and exams are individual work. You must not obtain assistance from any source other than any permitted aids (one aid sheet, a calculator, and a translation dictionary).
The rest of the grades are things which you can get assistance from other people (including the instructor and the teaching assistants). You are still expected to do the work instead of copying. Copying, as distinct from collaborating, can get both you and the person you copied from into serious trouble.
Furthermore, if you copy other people, you don't do the work and therefore don't learn the material as well. This will cause you grief on the tests an exam.
