Dr. PHUN Vengkheang has been actively involved with various national/international research study projects, related to transport /traffic engineering, planning, and policy.
2025-2026 : Principle Investigator, on research topic “Assessing traffic issues around primary school zones in Cambodia”, under the JICA INACON Program-LBE Research Grant Project 2025-2026 (JICA ITC-LBE project).
2024-2026 : Co-PI, US-ASEAN Smart Mobility Program: University Partnership Program: Boston-Phnom Penh city pair, under US DOT budget, about Sidewalk usage and governance in Cambodia.
2024-2025 : Co-PI, research topic “Bus Route Optimization: A Case Study on Public Bus in Phnom Penh and Intercity Bus in Cambodia”, under the JICA INACON Program-LBE Research Grant.
2024-Present: Research member, EASTS-IRG-53-2024:Framework Development for Enhancing Transportation Inclusiveness and Resilience of Asian Cities in Crises, of Eastern Asia Society for Transportation Studies.
2023-2025: Research member, REFRESH-Research Excellence for Region Sustainability and High-tech Industries, under budget of Technical University of Ostrava, about EV usage in ASEAN.
2023-2025 : Co-PI, on research topic "AMORCE 2023: Des Route qualitatives et Resilentes pour faciliter le development socio-economique du Cambodge, under ARES-CCD budget.
2022-Present: Research member, "EASTS-International Research Group on Transport for Major Events", of Eastern Asia Society for Transportation Studies.

2022-2023 : Principle Investigator, on research topic “How urban poor commute”, under the Project for Strengthening Engineering Education and Research for Industrial Development in Cambodia (JICA ITC-LBE project).
2019-present : Research member, EASTS-IRG-39-2019 on topic “Challenges of Mobile Ride-Hailing Applications in Asian Countries: Their Impacts on Local Transportation Market” of Eastern Asia Society for Transportation Studies.
2014-2018 : Researcher member of International Research Group under project “IRG-24-2013: Viability of Public Transport Harmonizing System with Para-Transit Modes” of Eastern Asia Society for Transportation Studies.
