Peninsula High School’s track and field program began soon after the school opened in 1947, growing from humble roots on a dirt track built by community volunteers. Over the decades, it developed into one of the region’s most respected athletic programs, producing talented athletes and state qualifiers. Notably, alumna Doris Brown Heritage, who trained independently before women could officially compete, became a world-record-holding runner and Olympian. Today, Peninsula’s team continues that legacy of hard work, teamwork, and pride, representing the Seahawks with determination every season.
