This course introduces students to the world of music through listening, discussion, and exploration of various musical styles, genres, and cultures. Students will learn about the elements of music, such as rhythm, melody, harmony, form, and timbre, while developing skills in critical listening and musical analysis. The class covers a wide range of music—from classical to contemporary, world music to jazz—and examines how music reflects history, culture, and personal identity. Through interactive activities, group projects, and multimedia resources, students will gain a deeper appreciation for music’s role in society and in their own lives. No prior musical experience is required—just a willingness to listen, learn, and engage.
