If you mean this soft round brush:

I was able to make something very similar in Krita just now:

Not pictures: Flow is enabled, linearly controlled by pressure.

Adding opacity control makes it feel even softer, which may help.

Hi, i have the same issue too. I have a some brushes that should have a tapered or pointed tip to them but instead they are all round. When I try to draw, it draws as a rounded brush. I can't find the solution, so i hope you can help.

I get this very weird looking shape pattern when using basic soft round brush in its default mode. I have tried as much as I was able to in order to fix this problem, like disabling all the brush tip shapes in the brush settings, but to no avail.

Not only can the colors of a pixel in an 8bit image only have one of 256 values in each Channel, their transparency is likewise limited and this also applies to each brush tip being placed as you paint.

When I use lower brush opacity on the soft brush (especially at 10%), and then start increasing brightness in levels (or any other tool that increases the brightness), the banding becomes more and more prominent. But if I use higher opacity number when using brush, the banding seems not to be there between 40 and 100% opacity (when inresing the brightness).

I recently got new parts fitted in my PC (an SSD & a GTX1070) and I've encountered a few issues since then, first of all my tablet didn't even work but that's all sorted now, so I booted up photoshop as I wanted to do some doodling and -something- has happened.

ive been trying to figure out how to do a more painterly style with my work for some time now and my problem seems to be that I don't understand how to blend well with a hard round brush. Ive attached a sample of a quick sphere painting and a leaf. At quick glance I think the sphere makes visual sense, but if you look there are very streaky lines as the values lighten up, especially prevalent on the leaf. I don't want this, I want a very smooth gradation almost like using a soft brush, but without actually using one. I see so many awesome painterly works and I just don't understand how that smooth blending happens.

A preset brush is a saved brush tip with defined characteristics, such as size, shape, and hardness. You can save preset brushes with the characteristics you use often. You can also save tool presets for the Brush tool that you can select from the Tool Preset menu in the options bar. Later, you can convert all these Brush tool presets to brush presets using the Options bar > > > Convert All To Brush Presets option.

When you change the size, shape, or hardness of a preset brush, the change is temporary. The next time you choose that preset, the brush uses its original settings. To make your changes permanent, you need to create a new preset. See Create a new preset brush.

(Available only for round and square brushes.) Temporarilychanges the amount of anti-aliasing for the brush tool. At 100%,the brush tool paints with the hardest brush tip, but is still anti-aliased.The Pencil always paints a hard edge that is not anti-aliased.

To dynamically preview brush strokes in the Brush Settings panel, position the pointer over a brush in the Brushes panel until the tool tip appears. As you move the pointer over different brushes, the preview area at the bottom of the Brush panel will display sample brush strokes.

New preset brushes are saved in a Preferencesfile. If this file is deleted or damaged, or if you reset brushesto the default library, the new presets will be lost. To permanentlysave new preset brushes, save them in a library.

Do you love Photoshop brushes? So do we! Create magical paintings and manipulations with incredible, high-resolution brushes. In this collection of essentials, I'll show you various basic and texture-based brushes every designer should own.

You see, the Round Brush stands alone. tag_hash_108It's the first brush you'll get to know and the one you'll never put down. But you also won't want to! You can use it for photo editing, painting, calligraphy, and so many other cool projects.

I, for example, like to have at least one Photoshop Round Brush with 100% Hardness and no extra pressure settings. A blunt brush that reminds me to think about crisp details often.

So I'll show you two examples of how to work with this brush with different settings. Bring up the Brush panel (F5). Now go to Shape Dynamics. Change the brush Control to Pen Pressure.

For soft, atmospheric effects, and general blending, you can try this brush below. All you have to do is lower the Hardness to 0% and set the Transfer to Pen Pressure.

Horror, retro, and antique design are all amazing styles creatives love. And although these brushes seem mostly gruesome, drip and splatter textures are actually a natural part of weather and erosion.

This splatter was created using the bristles of a paint brush to flick paint onto paper. If you need some ideas for how to use this brush, consider trying it out on an explosive effect. Or add more debris to a post-apocalyptic scene with just a few clicks.

Art brushes are used to create beautiful artistic effects. They simulate traditional art strokes and are used in collaboration with normal round brushes. Check out these tutorials for more painting inspiration:

Here I've created two different brushes made from the same paint stroke. The first is the original paint texture, and the second mimics the actual art form. Experiment with both to find the style you like.

Select the Brush Tool (B) and use a Hard Round Brush at 100% Opacity to create many small dots on your canvas. Then use the Polygonal Lasso Tool (L) to follow the same steps as before to create your custom brush.

Paint four black dots in a row. Capture these dots as a custom brush. Then enable Pen Pressure under the Shape Dynamics and Transfer settings for a fluid result.

And the best types of brushes are usually in the form of a silhouette. These brushes can be used to paint background bushes, flowers, and more. Learn how to work with natural brushes with these tutorials:

For this brush, I used this 3D object from Envato Elements. After downloading the tree at the angle you prefer, pass it through the Threshold filter at a high level. Enjoy a clean silhouette effect that can help you overcome depth of field issues.

This brush is NOT perfect - it does not have a perfectly hard edge, as you can see in the preview images - but it is very close to a true hard edge. If you need something like this, please feel free to use it. And if you can improve upon it, or you know of another brush for flatting, please let me know. Thanks!

When using the brush tool and with a hardness below 100 (also applies to other tools with a hardness parameter), the edges of the preview become all jagged instead of a smooth gradient as it should. Seems to be some sort of aliasing issue I reckon. sorry about the crappy phone images, print screen apparently doesn't capture the brush preview.

It's just the normal "soft round" brush type. Doesn't matter what value I set smoothing to, the dithering artifacts still appear. However if I change the cursor size to "normal brush tip" it disappears, with the brush preview a perfectly round shape. I seem to recall the brush preview actually displaying the gradient when using a soft brush, although I might be misremembering. Anyway, I guess I can live with using the "normal brush tip" cursor.

What's the best camera for travel? Good travel cameras should be small, versatile, and offer good image quality. In this buying guide we've rounded-up several great cameras for travel and recommended the best.

Above $2500 cameras tend to become increasingly specialized, making it difficult to select a 'best' option. We case our eye over the options costing more than $2500 but less than $4000, to find the best all-rounder.

One of the most fundamental tools in Photoshop is the Brush tool. It is used by photographers, graphic designers, and a host of other professionals and hobbyists alike to "brush" on and off effects. It can be used to affect large portions of an image very quickly, or it can be fine-tuned to change individual pixels in more time-consuming work.

Next, let's choose what kind of Brush that you'll be using on your image. We will focus on the two most important brushes in Photoshop that have a wide range of uses: the Soft Round and Hard Round brushes. You can access this menu by clicking on the dropdown menu on the Brush icon.

Each of these brushes serves different purposes. The Soft Round Brush will apply the brush effect, leaving a soft or faded look along the edges. The Hard Round Brush fully applies the brush effect all the way out to the edges. 2351a5e196
