After the Update to OS Catalina on my Macbook Pro 2012 my CS6 version stopped working so I bought a subscription to Photoshop CC and downloaded the installer. After unpacking and starting the installer I get a notice about security and that photoshop was loaded from the internet. I accept. Nothing happens. I start the installer again. Nothing happens. I look up the security settings of my mac. There's no notice about the Photoshop Installer being still blocked. There is no answer on the FAQs. Did anyone have similar problems? Thanks in advance.

I have a similar issue, so I have the Adobe CS6 Photoshop license (a bit oldschool these days I know), I have updated my macbook pro to Catalina 10.15.7 and when trying to open photoshop an error message appears: ""Adobe Photoshop CS6" needs to be updated. The developer of this app needs to update it to work ith this versio of macOS. Contact the developer for more information." Apple explained that this is because photoshop cs6 is a 32 bit app and these types of apps aren't compatible with Catalina IOS.

I installed the RED Photoshop Installer for Photoshop on a mac that has both photoshop 2020 and photoshop cs6 among other photoshop versions and the installer installed the plugin in cs6 but not in 2020.

I am having this same problem - did you come up with a solution?

2019 Mac pro, latest catalina update, latest photoshop update as of 5-22-20, redcine-x build 52.

I am guessing the plugin isn't built to work with CC 2020 but I do need to come up with a solution, opened a support ticket at RED and will report back if I find anything out.

Hey Robb, RED support suggested using Photoshop 2019 and that did solve the issue for me as a temporary fix. The version I installed is the oldest available 'other versions' in the cloud installer - 20.0.9 release.

This won't work. You need at least 3GB of space on your C: drive no matter what. The Download assistant itself will always install in teh default global programs folder and even if you choose to install Photoshop on D:, some shared Adobe components will always be installed to C:. Similalrly, all your temporary files and the installer extraction happen on C, if not defined otehrwise. refer to this:

I reported this as a bug last year in the 2022 version. So it has been 4 years now and Adobe cannot be bothered to fix their installer. This does not inspire confidence. I figured out the TAB trick the hard way. We are paying for this stuff.

Upon attempting to install Adobe Photoshop CS6 Extended edition, a pop up box appears which gives the message at the foot of the post, however no other installers are running. I've tried rebooting the PC and all my current software is up-to-date but this message appears every time I insert the disc and attempt to install the programme.

I have now looked at the Task Manager and closed all open installers and am still faced with the same message. I have since attempted to install the programme on an older version of Windows (XP) as a trial on a different PC and found it to work fine, so assume it has something to do with installation on the Windows 8 Operating System specifically.

This has got to be an Adobe installer configuration problem. This happens to me on multiple Adobe products, some off Creative Cloud, and also Premiere Elements which I think is a separate installation process. I've tried disabling Installer, and all the other recommendations without any joy. The only think that seems to work is to reboot into Safe Mode and run the install which is incredibly annoying. All my other apps update fine, just Adobe which fails. I've reloaded my PC from scratch, and now have a new PC with the same problems. Similar configrs though - Windows 10 x64.

Hi, Been trying to get the texture tool installer to work with my copy of Adobe Photoshop. however the installer is simply unable to located the installed version of Photoshop that i have (CS6 extended) So instead it will just install the thing into the generic Nvidia Corporation folder.

When I try to open the Photoshop CC installer, it bounces once in my dock and then quits. (The same thing is happening with Lightroom.) It's not a permissions issue -- I'm logged in as admin. If I try to run it through the terminal I get:

Thanks for the reply. I have the CC desktop app installed, running the latest version. There is no option within the app to install other apps, though. Learn, Assets, Stock, Behance are my only tabs. When I download the installers directly (Adobe creative desktop apps | Adobe Creative Cloud) they don't work.

Regardless, I did follow the instructions and the file is downloaded. There was no apparent way to quit the install , so I ended up quitting the CC manager. There was fallout from that; when I tried to run the set-up file in the download, it failed with the message that adobe installer was already running. Went into task manager and killed all the processes that had Adobe in the name; they all automatically came back. Still could not run the file in the download. Finally, after much trial and error of opening/closing adobe programs and killing adobe-related processes in various orders, the set-up file from the download has finally started to run. Will check in later to let you know if it actually worked.

I updated my desktop to catalina (big mistake) and needed to update photoshop as well, so I downloaded the photoshop installer from my institutional creative cloud subscription page but it gets stuck at 5.2% completion. I have deleted the install file, restarted my computer, and I am still getting this error. I was able to download it on another computer so I know my account is connecting

Hi thanks. The installer doesn't work. Neither does the one from prodesign tools.

Both jam up at the installer part...with the same error message that I've quoted above...

"Installer failed to initialise. This could be due to a missing file. Please download Adobe Support Advisor to detect the problem."Ā

I've since borrowed a superdrive and used my original product disc to install CS6 and that's worked fine. However, now I'm having trouble validating...it says my computer isn't connected to the internet, when it clearly is...so I'm concerned it might stop working after 7 days if I haven't 'validated' online.Ā

Any ideas of what to do?

I have the serial number of course and it is registered in my Adobe account under 'my products'.

I've no idea why it's not working - I didn't run the Photoshop installer, but rather the CS6 Design & Web Premium suite and install it and that was last year - I've since updated to Creative Cloud and get all my software delivered via the Adobe Application Manager.

I found this plug ins in 2023 and im still using the adobe Psd 2014

Exactly the same problem as dozens of other posts with installing Adobe Photoshop CS4 on Vista. I'm quite proficient with computers, and Adobe CS4 (which I just paid hundreds, and I mean HUNDREDS of dollars for) has a flawed installer. I've used MSCONFIG to do select startup (no viruscan etc), run the Windows install cleaner utility, ran WIN CS4 clean utility, and even placed the setup files on the harddrive. Still, setup begins, then nothing!

I agree that it is well known that the installer is a big heap of you know what. However, there are work arounds to get it working. You posted some things you did but other critical steps you didn't. Of course you may have done this already but just incase.....

At stage 3 the cscleaner tool still refused to run for me, so I downloaded a 3rd party uninstaller and removed everything with adobe in the filename. cscleaner then worked, after a reboot, for a final cleanup before rebooting again and installing the desktop app and CC 2018 apps without any further difficulty.

If I check the event viewer, the msiintaller exits gracefully and states that Product: Adobe Setup -- Configuration completed successfully. But it's not installed?I reinstalled CS3beta and reactivated it, as I thought this might have been an issue, so I deactivated and went the the whole process again including downloading the 400 mb update file. The log file in the /common files/installer is generated and my source files are on the same volume. I'm now wondering whether my AVirus application might have something to do with it, but every other adobe application installs without a hitch. The mind boggles!

I've tried all of these and still no luck. I'm now thinking there's something wrong with the installer. I've burnt so much time on this its getting out of hand. I could try a complete re-install of XP as one last resort, but i'll wait until monday and get in touch with support.I would put it down to my own inexperience but having 20+ years in software / hardware development, suggests that its something more fundamental.I'm reading on other forums that there's a few other people in the same boat, so lets see how adobe play this one out. Thanks for you help.
