You create and manipulate your documents and files using various elements, such as panels, bars, and windows. Any arrangement of these elements is called a workspace. (The workspaces of different Adobe creative applications share similar appearances so that you can move between the applications easily.) You can adapt Photoshop to the way you work by selecting from several preset workspaces or by creating one of your own.

You now have the power to snap the app windows in the Photoshop desktop app. This feature adopts the new visual style for app windows that can be easily customized for dynamically snapping application windows to pre-configured display regions. This will help ease the management of multiple applications running side by side.

Apparently it's been a problem for multiple years for people, I've looked up stuff but only Wacom stuff comes up. I'm sure Wacom drawing tablets aren't bad but I fully believe they're overpriced if nothing else. I have an xp-pen drawing tablet, not sure if the difference matters. But when windows ink is off everything is fine but when on it will lag occasionally for 5 or so seconds then the input will go through. I've looked up ways and followed them, like one way was to make Photoshop use some other thing rather than windows ink and it didn't work. And some other way improved it alot, it used to be extremely slow and laggy before doing that method.(I forgot what it was but it was an a Wacom subreddit). I'm not sure why windows ink makes everything lag so much but any ideas on how to fix it?

Photoshop CS2 always stay on top, even when I click another app from the windows taskbar (right of the start button). It's completly annoying me. Always need minimized, click the other app, reclick again on photoshop, re-reminimized.

I am having same issue with CS2 on Windows 7 64 bit. To work around, I hit tab on keyboard when photoshop window is active, that makes all pallets invisible, then I can switch to any window I need to work on.

Honestly, that's just ridiculous.. How is it possible that still after all these years Adobe still didn't enable the gesture control on it's main and most used software for the windows user? I am new in the windows world before I was a mac user, and after having purchased my Dell XPS 15 to fast up my workload I was extremely disappointed finding that i couldn't use the trackpad in the way i was used to.

But what is worst is that in my ignorance i called the Adobe support, thinking that the problem was on the setting on my pc. They said that probably my pc had some driver obsolete and that was the problem.. honestly. Such a shame.

As @mzyk pointed out, this is not equivalent to full gesture control (Panning in all diretions + pinch to zoom = basically touchscreen behaviour on the touchpad) so this solution is workaround at best. It If you don't believe me, use a Macbook and a deccent windows laptop (w/ precision touchpad) side by side. What you see on the Mac is the intended behaviour that should've existed on Windows from the beginning.

Hi all. I've come on here to help my mum. She has used adobe photoshop on only a windows desktop and laptop before and has thousands of edited photos saved on both devices and a seagate external storage. As she is now part of the apple ecosystem now, (keep opinions to yourselves lol) she is looking at getting an iMac and purchasing adobe photoshop.

So my question is the process to get all her images from the desktop, laptop or seagate (these are all the same photos saved on multiple devices) over to an iMac. Thanks in advance for your help. It will make a mum very happy.

Thank you so much for your reply. When I went to apple with my mum they wasn't very knowledgeable in what I was asking. They said in reference to the seagate hard drive, if it has only been used with a windows device to start, the Mac OS may not be able to read it. They said it would have had to have been configured to use both operating systems from the start and that would now require formatting the hard drive so Mac can read it. This isn't going to work as all the pictures would be deleted. So even though the pictures are compatible, they are saying that the Mac may not be able to read the seagate.

In regards to the seagate external storage, when I went to apple to seek technical support, they said that because the hard drive was originally initiated on a windows os, the Mac wouldn't be able to read it. Is there any way to find this out before purchasing the iMac. Obviously she doesn't want to buy it, take it home and realise after plugging it in that it's doesn't read it.

When I open several windows, the way it used to be, I could see them all, well now I see them after opening, but when I show one image full workspace view and then close that image, the other windows are now hidden and I can only recall them one at a time from hidden view using control-shift-tab which is a nuisance as I need to see various of the open windows and side-by-side...

Make sure you have Windows 10 Display Device drivers installed. I after I upgraded to windows I had to install new display device drivers to get my displays working correctly with Windows 10. AMD/ATI, Nvidia and Intel all release new device drivers for their products for Windows 10. The Windows 10 upgrade also broke my Homegroup on my network I had to use a sledge hammer to destroy the old Homegroup and then create a new one.

For some reason in Photoshop whenever I use the Open command, Save command, anything that opens up a new window, it will open up in the top left corner of the screen. I have moved the window into the middle of the screen over and over again and yet when I reopen photoshop it will always default to the top left again. It's really annoying and I'm not sure how to fix it. I attached a screenshot of what I'm talking about

Ive been running photoshop in administrator for a while now and it started doing the top left snapping again for open windows. Any ideas on why its happening? I still dont think its windows because it doesn't happen in any other program

So when you open photoshop and hit control + O, the open dialog opens in the center of the screen and not the top left? I've tried resetting photoshop preferences in the past as well and didn't fix it. What machines are you running?

i need to figure out how my setup is different than yours then with windows, i dont have any ideas right now on what i could have changed that would cause this to happen and it happens on my computer at home as well as work

finally found out why its locking to the top left. there is a bug with save for web that makes the window do this after you use that command. I opened up photoshop, window was in the top left. I moved it to the center and then opened a bunch of files. things were working fine and the window stayed where I put it. Then I tried save for web, and immediately the window locked to the top left again, so this is a photoshop bug

I know it is almost 2 years later yet I have this issue with every Adobe tool I use on my Windows 10 (10.0.18363) workstation. For me, the most often used are Premiere Pro and After Effects. Each new version of these will have this behavior of opening windows and panels in the upperleft which feels problmatic in terms of aestethic workflow if you will. My solution is: I move the window to where I would like it, then close that window by clicking the upper right corner X, then open same window again by "import" or whatever command I used to get it the first time, now the window will always open in this new spot. Yet these are also separate for each command or origination point that utilizies a panel (AE - pc), an explorer window and will have to be "re-defaulted". The reason I found this thread is because I would like to find a way to tell the Adobe app the default way or position I would like Adobe to open up explorer windows so I do not have to repeat these steps for every new version of every Adobe app I run on my PC workstation. I use a Mac as my mobile editing and teaching device and this behavior does not occur on Mac. Or at least not on the mbp 2018 (model 15,1 osx 10.14.6) that I am using. Thanks for letting me share...

I'm still having the same issue 3 years later where the windows stick to the top left corner of the screen when opening. It only occurs when opening files in Photoshop. Has anybody been able to fix this problem?

I have one client that still needs the occasional file done up via .psd file and I use other editors all the time. When I went to save a copy of that file I got an odd something missing error message, and then the best I could get out of the old software was 'program error encountered'. But I had another .psd file that I could modify and save. Made no sense. I then decided - must be #$@# windows updates security whatever and rebuilt an old windows 7 computer. But caused a lot of problems between the two having to pass graphics back and forth etc etc etc.

However, if you can tell me how I find out what actions/permissions were given by me when I excluded the old photoshop software when it tried to write to my disc drive, I could then provide that information in the post. ff782bc1db
