PhotoNest – Privacy Policy
Last updated: 25 October 2026
PhotoNest sorts the photos on your phone into folders and helps you find
your WhatsApp images by category and by person. This policy explains what
the app does with your data.
1. Everything stays on your phone
PhotoNest has no internet access: Android does not give it permission to
use the network. All analysis is done on your phone. Your photos, the
faces in them, the names you give to people, your categories and all
results are never sent to us or to anyone else.
2. What the app reads and stores
- Photos: with your permission, PhotoNest reads the images in your camera,
screenshot and WhatsApp folders.
- Sorting: matching camera photos and screenshots are copied into
Pictures/PhotoNest/<category>. WhatsApp images are not copied or moved.
Originals are only moved to the system trash when you ask for it, after
Android's own confirmation dialog.
- Image analysis: an on-device AI model recognises what each photo shows.
- Faces: in WhatsApp images, the app finds faces and makes a numeric
"face fingerprint" so it can recognise the people you name. The
fingerprints and names are stored only in the app's private storage on
your phone and are used only for sorting your images.
3. What we collect
Nothing. PhotoNest has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking.
We do not collect, share or sell any personal data.
4. Android backup
If Android backup is on, Android may save your category lists (category
names and keywords) to your Google account, so they can be restored on a
new phone. Photos, faces, names and results are never included in the
backup.
5. Google Play
PhotoNest and its AI model files are installed and updated by Google Play.
Google's own privacy policy applies to Google Play.
6. Deleting your data
Uninstalling PhotoNest, or clearing its data in Android settings, deletes
everything the app has stored: face fingerprints, names, categories and
results. The photo copies in Pictures/PhotoNest are normal files that stay
until you delete them.
7. Children
PhotoNest is not directed at children under 13.
8. Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page
with a new date.
