09.24.2021 challenge
social justice challenge
On the 25th of October, I took the Metro downtown, to take some pictures in D.C. I was given the opportunity, to explore, learn, and take in the city life.
For this social justice project, I decided to focus on the Reflection Pool. I have only ever been to this pool once before, but I was just passing by.
Whilst staying near the Pool, I was able to think back on who I am, and who I wanted to be.
photoshop challenge 10.01.2021
For this project, we were tasked with familiarizing ourselves with the Photoshop application, and creating two mandalas. Multiple shapes were used in both of my images, such as circles, half-circles, and lines. We also used various Photoshop tools to achieve different backgrounds and colors.
vision board challenge 10.08.2021
For this project, we were asked to create a mood board for project #3, a fashion shoot. Since my theme for the fashion shoot was 'commercial' I was able to display and market the different types of flowers that matched the woman in the middle's aesthetic.
fashion shoot 10.15.2021
For this project, I had to take and edit photos based off of commercial ideals. To achieve this, I asked my friend Megan Loupe to model for me, with her new Jordans.
snapseed challenge 10.21.2021
For this project, we were asked to create a club scene. To achieve this, I used lens blur, the pop filter, decreased the contrast, and increased the brightness, highlights, and shadows.
diorama: window display 11.05.2021
For this project, me and Ciara Cullinane were tasked with creating a diorama. We used the digital camera available in the classroom to achieve better quality. As for editing, I mainly focused on making sure that the mannequin popped, by utilizing the filters available on Snapseed and playing with the details of the image.
landscape challenge (like ansel) 11.12.2021
For this project, we were asked to take landscape photos that were similar to those of Ansel Adams. Out of the three that I took, I believe that this one is the best. To achieve this photo, I used the B&W filter available on Snapseed, in addition to editing the details of the photo and the filter itself.
darkroom challenge: layers of meaning 11.12.2021
For this darkroom challenge, we had to gather photos to essentially make a story. When brainstorming, I thought of items that showed the world a wealthy person was "wealthy". So, when looking for items, I looked for a man that looked like he held a prominent position in his area, an alcohol bottle, an expensive watch, and a sports car.
human, nature, and decay 11.23.2021
When working on this project with Elizabeth Breece, we brainstormed various ideas as to how we could accurately represent a human, or humans, in our society. The first thing that came to mind was those seemingly perfect Instagram photos of a group of friends having fun.
So, we decided to take that theme and stage a similar scene. While we were snapping photos, we pulled each model away for more individual pictures. When taking photos of Cheyenne Degross on the bench, it felt as if she was pondering her past decisions and her life as a whole, or just thinking as if she had just lost her best friend.
oil, water, & soap challenge 12.03.2021
For this challenge, we were asked to capture the vivid colors of our image, underneath a glass panel. On the glass panel, we had the option to put different amounts of water, oil, and soap. For my picture, I mainly focused using water and oil, as it distorted certain aspects of the photo.
darkroom challenge: light painting 12.10.2021
For our last darkroom challenge, we were challenged to properly set up a Canon camera, so that the resulting photo would be created from its long exposure. Though it did not go exactly to plan, we were able to use our cell phones and editing software to come up with the picture on the side.
