If you are considering hiring a photographer for a springtime or Easter session, you owe it to your kids (and the animals involved) to read below. You can prevent injury and trauma to both your children and animals. And, truly, the best way to do that is not to participate.
The USDA requires a license every time live animals are used in a photo session. Pets are the exception; I love it when a family pet is included in a session. An inspection of the business and photo location is required, and there is a fee, which the photographer must pay. An inspector may be required to be present at the session itself. Be sure that your photographer is a legally-operating business, insured and registered in your state, in the first place, but this other particular duck must be in order as well.

There are horror stories of abuse by children (unintentionally, of course) biting animals, holding them by the ears, or flinging them in water, all because the adults in charge did not take steps to prevent trauma.
These sweet fuzzy babies can also truly do physical harm to children. These untamed animals may panic from over-handling or pain, and when they do, the scratches can be deep and infectious. A scared rabbit can panic and claw deeply.
Ask your photographer: Where are these animals going after the sessions are over? Does the photographer intend to love and care for them? Are they equipped and outside of zoning restrictions that disallow these animals? If not, they may be surrendered despite best intentions.
Even so, and even if they have a permit, if animals are harmed, it is considered animal abuse. I implore you not to support a photographer whose business includes the potential for abuse. There are hefty fines and the photographer can be banned from doing business permanently.
If you want animals in your photos, choose someone who will use a backdrop, will photoshop in adorable animal images that can look absolutely life-like, or hire someone who uses high-end plush (and incredibly life-like!) faux animal props.
The set up can include an Easter basket and eggs, flower bouquet, Easter hat and bowtie, or plush toy bunny, for example. Your images can include all of the beautiful colors of spring and Easter (hint: dress in the colors of spring!), and your photos will be gorgeous!

Images of dead or dismembered animals. While we do not endorse killing or fatally injuring animals just for the sake of contributing to iNaturalist, as naturalists we all encounter such scenes in our explorations, for example in the form of road kill and recent predation events (including predation by humans). While these kinds of images can be disturbing for some people, they can also be interesting, and provide the same kind of scientifically relevant occurrence data as an image of a living creature. I agree, posting a less gruesome picture as the first one and leaving a potential warning in the comments is a good approach. Some types of dead animal observations could actually be quite valuable if someone is interested in topics like predation (either by native species or maybe tracking mortality due to invasive species like rats or cats) or mortality caused by humans (roadkill, bycatch, etc.). Those are important conservation issues, so even if the pics might be a little uncomfortable, the data are potentially important enough to warrant it!
Data about animal mortality are really important, I manage a project on roadkill and it is very important to have observations with photographs, that is observations where the species is officially recognized or recognizable, to perform statistical analyses and analize the factors that increase or decrease mortality for each species: that can happen only if photographs are posted. If you think you could affect someone, please post a first warning image, as already suggested.

Today, animal-assisted therapy is common in hospitals, nursing homes, rehab clinics and other places where the pain and solitude that so often come with illness and the stress associated with recovering from injuries or sickness can be almost paralyzing. Whether or not spending time with animals can actually help spark long-lasting improvements in mental health is an open, and controversial, question. But anecdotal evidence suggests that patients offered the opportunity to play with and otherwise interact with animals appear to be more optimistic about their prospects for recovery, while certain animals (especially social animals, like dogs) can often help decrease the sense of isolation and loneliness that so often plagues those stuck in hospitals for long periods of time.

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are one of the most widely distributed persistent organic pollutants (POPs) in the environmental media. PAHs have been widely concerned due to their significant health risk and adverse effects to human and animals. Currently, the main sources of PAHs in the environment are the incomplete combustion of fossil fuels, as well as municipal waste incineration and agricultural non-surface source emissions. In this work, the scope of our attention includes 16 typical PAHs themselves without involving their metabolites and industrial by-products. Exposure of human and animals to PAHs can lead to a variety of adverse effects, including carcinogenicity and teratogenicity, genotoxicity, reproductive- and endocrine-disrupting effects, immunotoxicity and neurotoxicity, the type and severity of which depend on a variety of factors. On the other hand, the regulatory effect of microplastics (MPs) on the bio-toxicity and bioaccumulation capacity of PAHs has now gradually attracted attention. We critically reviewed the adsorption capacity and mechanisms of MPs on PAHs as well as the effects of MPs on PAHs toxicity, thus highlighting the importance of paying attention to the joint bio-toxicity caused by PAHs-MPs interactions. In addition, due to the extensive nature of the common exposure pathway of PAHs and ultraviolet ray, an accurate understanding of biological processes exposed to both PAHs and UV light is necessary to develop effective protective strategies. Finally, based on the above critical review, we highlighted the research gaps and pointed out the priority of further studies.
For a lot of people, going to zoo is one of many ways to entertain themselves and learn a little about this animals and their habitats. However, the main purposes of a zoo is to protect the wildlife and let all of us understand the importance of nature.
As mentioned above, the photos are taken in Mirpur Zoo, Dhaka, Bangladesh. The animals are kept in various, (mostly small), cages that are not anything like their natural environment. Some are even tied with chains so they could barely move around. The aviary was also not big enough for the birds to fly inside it.
