Privacy Policy – Phone Number Locator

This Privacy Policy explains how Phone Number Locator (the "App"), published by Sojitra Milan ("we", "us", "our"), handles information when you use the App on iPhone.
We built the App to collect as little as possible. The App has no user accounts, no advertising and no tracking. It does not ask for access to your location (GPS), contacts, photos, camera or microphone, and it never reads or uploads your contact list.
1. Phone numbers you look up
When you search for a number, the App sends that phone number, including its country code, to our lookup server over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. We use it only to return information about that number:
• its registered region (city, state and postal/PIN code, where available) and country
• spam reports associated with the number
• names associated with the number in our database
We do not store the numbers you search on our servers. The number is used only to answer your search and is not kept afterwards.
2. Network information collected once per install
The first time you open the App after installing it, the App collects information about your internet connection and saves it once to our database, for analytics (for example, to understand which countries and regions the App is used in). This information is:
• your IP address
• the approximate location of your IP address: country, region/state, city, postal/ZIP code and approximate latitude/longitude (this is the location of your internet provider's network, not your device's GPS location)
• your time zone and internet service provider (ISP) name
• a random install ID created by the App, the App version and the platform (iOS)
• the date and time the record was saved
To get this information, the App sends a request to ipconfig.io, which reads your IP address and returns its approximate location. The record is stored in Google Firebase Realtime Database.
This record is not linked to your name, phone number, Apple ID or any account, it is not combined with your searches, and it is not used for advertising or tracking. It is saved only once per install. If you delete the App, no further information is collected; reinstalling the App creates a new install record.
We keep these records for up to 24 months, after which they are deleted.
3. Information stored only on your device
The App saves the following on your iPhone only. It is never uploaded to us:
• Search history: numbers you searched and their results (region, spam status and associated names), plus any results you mark as Saved
• Preferences: default country, theme (Light/Dark/System), language and whether search history is saved
You control this data:
• Turn off Settings > Save search history to stop saving new searches.
• Tap Settings > Clear history to delete all saved searches.
• Deleting the App removes all of this data from your device.
4. Third-party services
The App uses the services below. They receive your device's IP address and the technical details of each request, and handle them under their own privacy policies.
• ipconfig.io – receives your IP address and returns its approximate location (see Section 2). Website: https://ipconfig.io

• OpenStreetMap Nominatim (OpenStreetMap Foundation) – receives the city, state and postal code of a search result (not the phone number) to find map coordinates for it. Privacy policy: https://osmfoundation.org/wiki/Privacy_Policy
• Esri ArcGIS Online basemaps – receives the map area being displayed, to load map images. Privacy statement: https://www.esri.com/en-us/privacy/overview
• Apple (App Store rating prompt, Maps, Messages, Mail, Share Sheet) – receives only what you choose to send, when you tap Rate, Directions or Share.
We do not sell, rent or share your information with advertisers or data brokers.
5. Caller name and spam information
The region, caller name and spam information shown in the App comes from a database that we own, which we obtained by purchase. We do not collect, upload or store the contacts of people who use the App, and we do not add anything you search to this database.
If your phone number appears in our lookup results and you want it removed, or the associated names removed, email sojitramilan34@gmail.com from the number's owner or include proof of ownership. We will act on verified requests within 30 days.
6. Children
The App is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through the App, contact us and we will delete it.
7. Data security
All communication between the App and our servers, ipconfig.io and Firebase uses HTTPS encryption. Our Firebase database only accepts new install records and does not allow the App or the public to read stored data. Information stored on your device is protected by iOS security, including device encryption when you use a passcode. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect the information we handle.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, the EU/UK GDPR, or California privacy laws), you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you, to withdraw consent, and to complain to a data protection authority. To use these rights, contact us using the details below.
Because install records are not linked to your name or account, include the approximate date you installed the App and your IP address (if you know it) so we can find your record. You can stop future collection at any time by deleting the App. Search history and preferences are stored only on your device, and you can delete them yourself as described in Section 3.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Significant changes will also be noted in the App's release notes.
