The Shwedagon Pagoda, Myanmar’s most revered religious site, is majestically located on Singuttara Hill in Yangon, the country’s commercial capital. This sacred landmark is bounded by the vibrant cityscape and stretches across an area of approximately 114 acres, including its surrounding religious compounds and walkways. The pagoda, rising to a height of around 326 feet, is not only a spiritual center but also a historical and cultural symbol deeply embedded in Myanmar’s national identity.
In close collaboration with government officials and civil servants, our team has carried out a series of youth-oriented projects within the vicinity of the Shwedagon Pagoda. These initiatives were designed to both preserve cultural heritage and empower young people through meaningful engagement. Projects included youth volunteer programs focused on heritage conservation, educational tours to deepen historical awareness, and leadership workshops held in the pagoda’s cultural zones. Moreover, environmental campaigns around the sacred grounds promoted cleanliness, sustainability, and civic responsibility. These programs not only cultivated a deeper sense of pride and cultural respect among youth but also equipped them with transferable skills in teamwork, communication, and community service. By working hand in hand with government partners, our efforts have contributed to fostering a socially responsible and culturally enriched new generation.
Thoohtay Island is located in the Ayeyarwady Region of southwestern Myanmar, near the coastal town of Ngapudaw. Surrounded by the waters of the Bay of Bengal, the island covers an approximate area of 2.5 square miles. Its geographical boundaries are defined by the vast coastal expanse to the west and neighboring small islets to the east, forming a peaceful and environmentally rich maritime zone. Despite its modest size, Thoohtay Island holds significant potential for community development due to its natural resources and strategic location.
In collaboration with government officials and relevant ministries, our team has implemented a variety of impactful projects aimed at benefiting the youth population of the island. These initiatives have included skills development workshops, educational support programs, and sustainable livelihood training. Special emphasis was placed on digital literacy, environmental conservation, and vocational skills such as marine resource management and eco-tourism. Through these efforts, local youths were empowered with knowledge, practical skills, and leadership capabilities. The projects not only fostered community engagement and awareness but also created long-term opportunities for the younger generation. Our continued cooperation with public sector partners ensures that these initiatives remain sustainable and aligned with national development goals, making Thoohtay Island a promising example of youth-focused rural advancement.
