During surgery once an X-Ray is taken and the C-Arm stand is moved at a different position to get for another exposure/image, thus there is a shift in the position of the C-Arm Stand. Challenge is when the surgeon wants to take exposure of that specific area again, the C-Arm stand cannot be exactly positioned at the same location again (resulting in first and second image misalignment). This results in unnecessary exposure, by trial and error to get the exact position of the C-Arm.
We start at an Initial position, then take an exposure and afterwards move to the Final position.
If we can keep track of all the linear distances travelled, the deflections and the wheel orientation,we can get a good idea about the dynamic position with respect to the initial point.
Now that we have the co ordinates, the operator can move in any direction and the instantaneous position will be displayed on a screen and thus aid in repositioning.
Generalized co-ordinate of the C Arm when it reaches point E is given by:
The Sway angles and Linear displacements shown in the figure are exaggerated.
