Hello my name is Daniel. I'm in my second year of uni and one of things that I have always struggled with is learning new languages, especially vocabulary. So I decided to make an app that makes learning vocabulary quicker, more structured and more fun.

Some people can perfectly learn a long list of vocabulary by going through it once or twice, but I have never been able to that. I had to repeat those lists over and over again and I still struggled. I also got very bored which made the learning process even slower. So I have always wanted something that allowed me to make those connections quicker, practice the words that I actually struggle with, so that I lose less time, and make the experience more bearable and fun.

It doesn't really matter how good your app is if it's to much work to create the list. So we decided to make it as easy as possible. You can easily add words by taking a picture of your vocabulary and you can even have your words translated by us.

Another daunting task is getting started on a new list. You don't really know any of the words and progress seems so slow. So we added some aids that will make your life a whole lot easier and as you progress you can slowly start winding them down.

The options that you have when learning from a paper list are quite limited. It's impossible to shuffle your words, when you take a break it's easy to forget where you stopped. It's very difficult to just focus on the words that you really struggle with and so much more. Those problems will all be gone with Phocab.
