Using the Library Learning Commons (LLC) during the school day

7:45 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Each student must have a pass to come to the LLC during school hours. Students are permitted to use the LLC with a pass from their teacher during their lunch period, but must eat lunch in the cafeteria first. Student should NOT skip lunch to come to the LLC. The library is not open to students after school.

All students visit the LLC with their team every 2-3 weeks for whole-class circulation. During those visits, students should bring ALL library materials they have checked out to the library and return or renew materials.

In addition to these scheduled whole-class visits, students are encouraged to visit the LLC at any time during the school day with a pass from their teacher.


Check-Out Procedures

Students use a self-checkout desktop computer station to check out their library books. Students enter their student ID number and scan their own books. Students are not issued picture I.D. cards at PHMS. Because we foster an environment of trustworthiness at our school, the checkout procedures are reliable and efficient.


If paying for lost library materials, students see Ms. Ziller in the library.

Overdue Materials

Students receive overdue notices several times during the school year and are expected to return their library materials on time. Students can view their library record and book due dates in the Destiny Discover library catalog (click the Follett app in the WakeID Portal).

When a book is lost, students are to pay the library purchase price of the book so it can be replaced. Please see Ms. Ziller if you have concerns about a lost book.

Loan Periods

Books have a 3-week checkout period and can be renewed for an additional 3 weeks.


Students ARE NOT to check out books for other students.
