Data streams including gene expression, epigenetics, DNA damage, metabolomics, stress hormone responses, and more, will be fed into novel computational tools to test competing hypothesis on how nature builds a heat-resilient brain.
Hypothesis: Nature repeatedly evolves a conserved pathway to heat resilience.
Hypothesis: Certain lineages have evolved unique paths to neurothermotolerance, e.g. via inherently heat ready brains, or alternatively, through brains that dynamically respond to heat stress.
