Brochure Distribution
PLHS partners with Office of Tourism to spread awareness on "First Permanent Filipino Settlements in the USA"
In an effort to spread awareness about the "First Filipino Permanent Settlements in the USA", the PLHS is partnering with the Louisiana Office of Tourism to distribute brochures in all the welcome centers across Louisiana.
It was in April 2022 when PLHS was able to secure the approval from the Office of Tourism (under of the Office of Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser) through the Welcome Center Program Director Jason Miller.
The PLHS Founding President Robert Romero reached out to various Filipino-American organizations to help with this distribution efforts. The society has already communicated with each of the Welcome Centers’ supervisor via email and phone call, and they have responded to us cordially. We are only allowed to turn over 100 brochures at a time, and we will replenish once they run out. The Slidell Welcome Center, on the other hand, is the only one that can allow 500 copies.
Our distribution efforts kicked off with Rosenne Agdamag (and her husband James) from the Tangipahoa Filipino American Community (TFAC) volunteering to deliver 100 brochures to Kentwood Welcome Center Supervisor Jacki Giesey.
