Phin & Pho began long before our first restaurant ever opened.
It started in 2011, when I was a young backpacker wandering the streets of Ho Chi Minh City for the first time. The moment I tasted pho simmered in fragrant spices and sipped robust Vietnamese coffee brewed through a phin filter, I fell in love.
There was something honest, soulful, and deeply comforting in the food.
Right then and there, I made myself a promise:
One day, I will bring this experience home — so more Filipinos can taste Vietnam the way I first did.
From 2011 up to the years before the pandemic, I returned to Vietnam again and again — eventually making around 59 trips. I visited my favorite spots in Saigon, observed kitchens, talked to cooks and café owners, learned techniques, asked questions, and gathered stories. Every visit was fueled by the same dream: to one day share what I had grown to love.
On April 16, 2023, we opened our first Phin & Pho in Boracay.
In September 2024, we opened our next home in Siargao.
And this is just the beginning.
Our hope is to open one branch every year in select places across the Philippines — always where people come seeking warmth, connection, and good food.
