The PhilSys ✓ (read as Check) is a website that uses public-private key cryptography which allows relying parties to verify the authenticity of the PhilID or the printed ePhilID QR Code. Any computer or mobile device with a camera and internet access can use the PhilSys ✓. Although this method is delivered through an internet website, it qualifies as an ‘offline authentication’ under the Implementing Rules and Regulations of Republic Act No. 11055.

An ‘offline authentication’ refers to the process wherein an individual's identity is validated against the information contained in the PhilID or printed ePhilID. This is further described in the IRR as the presentation of the PhilID and the matching of the data stored in the QR code printed at the back of the PhilID or printed ePhilID.

Upon scanning, the embedded public key in the PhilSys ✔ website decrypts the digital signature embedded in the PhilID or printed ePhilID QR code and checks if it is active or revoked. This will then yield a hash of data initially generated before the printing of the QR code onto the PhilID or printed ePhilID. The website generates a second hash of the QR code data. If the first and second hashes match, this means that the QR code data is PSA-issued and is not tampered with (i.e. it is correct). The website will then display the data from the QR code which can be used to match the printed PhilID data.

PhilSys Check is part of the PhilSys project’s goal to enable a broader transition to digital, online citizen-centric service delivery by the government and the private sector.
Thirteen banks were able to utilize the system in their branches nationwide during a pilot test.
The launch showcased a live demonstration of PhilSys Check and testimonials from pilot banks. The authentication system is currently accessible through android devices and laptops with an internet connection.

How do I access PhilSys ✓?
To access PhilSys ✓:
1. Open your web browser and to go https://verify.philsys.gov.ph.
2. Click on the “Scan QR Code”
3. Allow the website to access your device’s camera.
4. Once allowed, the browser will open a dialog that lets you choose the type of device to be used in scanning the PhilID or the printed ePhilID QR Code. You may use your device’s camera or a barcode/QR code scanner.
5. After choosing the scanning device, the browser will open the device’s camera. Scan the PhilID/printed ePhilID’s QR Code and ensure it is in the center of the viewfinder.
What will appear after a successful QR Code scanning?
After successfully scanning the PhilID or printed ePhilID, the browser will display the following data:

For ePhilID, the results will also include a low-resolution photo of the cardholder, similar to the one on the printed ePhilID.
