I was born and raised in the Bay Area. I grew up in Fremont and attended college at UC Berkeley where I majored in Chemistry. After living abroad for a few years and discovering a love for Philosophy, I came back to get a Masters Degree in Philosophy from San Jose State University. My thesis was entitled, "Toward a Single-Consciousness: Challenging 'un-American-ness' of People of Color." You can read it here, if you like! I am most interested in political and legal philosophy, particularly ideas around social justice.
I started teaching at EVC in 2011. I used to come to the college as a child in the 90s when my mother worked here. Getting the opportunity to teach here myself has been an incredible privilege. I love what I teach, the college, and my students. It is a blessing to be able to have a job I am passionate about.
My husband works as a social worker and policy analyst in a county Public Health department, specializing in Children and Family Health. I have two children - a daughter in college and a teenage son. When not working, I love to hike and be outdoors, read, watch movies, and do logic puzzles.
I am so excited to be with you this semester!
